Inquiring about the function of Rear lift glass. New hardtop owner.

Hey all I just moved from the soft top to a hard top and it took a lot of purchasing of some hardwarewhen I got a used one that was nearly disassembled. I have everything together and fit fits very nicely for the most part.

Although I’m struggling to understand, the rear lift glass. A lot of my research has not helped out a lot. From what I understood it was held in place by the tailgate. Although with the tailgate closed, I can move it just the slightest.

What am I missing?

You are missing the rubber seal that fits on the plastic piece at the base of the glass. Your first picture should look like this
