Ok? One is an outlier. Until this becomes a problem, it’s not a problem.
It’s been proven to be a problem in other platforms that have been out longer lol.
Belt soaked in used oil and heat cycled won’t last too many years for the same reason tires don’t last after so many years IMO
So I have another 32 years before I worry about getting that many miles on mine. Cool.

Ouch.

I think at that point I'd just look at dropping in a complete reman or something.
Yeah.. if you have a 260k engine and you're pulling it already -- time to replace or you'll be pulling the engine again in a week, hah.

And yet there’s thousands of 2.7 engines in the wild still running for years and hundreds of thousands of miles. You are trying to use a single high mileage incident to prove that this is a fatal design flaw so don’t take it personally when some of us roll our eyes.

254K miles proves it's not the big issue some people think it is lol
There are so many Ford engines with these and none of them ever have issues. 95% of people will never hit this mileage.
It's a complete non-issue no matter how much some people want to believe it to be.

You soak your tires in oil?

I don't think anyone said they won't fail. Nothing never fails. I'm sure a belt change is listed in the maintenance manual at the 250,000 service interval. 😆 Seriously, that is a 20-year service item for an average driver, which is more than double the average ownership term. If I worried about everything that could go wrong rather than what is likely to go wrong, I'd never get any sleep. 🙂

Due to labor costs for all of the "do it while you are..." repairs, I like the idea of swapping in a low-mileage engine from a totaled Bronco where the engine was not damaged. It might take a bit to source, but would probably be a good 200k ownership plan.

Well, I guess he’s a dummy for not getting the 300k mile extensively-extended warranty.

Seriously though, there are plenty of new cars that will need equally expensive repairs, like new transmissions, long before they get to that kind of mileage. I doubt our 2019 Subaru’s CVT will make it to 150k and it would cost as much or more than that to replace.

It’s been 2 hours and nobody has suggested a coyote swap yet.
