Unfortunately, this is typical dealer behavior. Never assume anything is as it appears, when working with car dealers.

Worth repeating.... if you want it done correctly, thoroughly, and with care... do it yourself. Second best, a trusted independent shop that will let you supply the materials. Anything else is a crap shoot....

It’s time for my 20k service, but I’m not taking it to a dealer: I’ve had the tires rotated by Discount Tire, and my full synth oil change at KwikKar, and I know if I tell my dealer not to change the oil or rotate the tires, just do the inspection, that they’ll mess up my tire rotation and put in a synth blend against my wishes.

Worth repeating.... if you want it done correctly to work eventually, for the most part, and with just a few new dents and dings along the way... do it yourself if Urgent Care is nearby.

As long it doesn’t say “Full Synthetic” it’s not false advertising.

We have a 2026 Bronco Raptor picked up about six weeks ago. My son and I did the oil change last weekend and we live in Hawthorne. If you need a hand with any of that, give me a holler. In the next few weeks, putting on a 2 inch coil lift and 39 inch tires……should be interesting. P.S. I hated the drain plug on the raptor, gotta see if somebody makes a better aftermarket one.

I wonder how many “synthetic” oil changes are done with regular oil? I mean how do you know exactly what oil they are really using? I change my own.

I was taking my company truck (F650) to the local Ford dealer for oil changes and one time (after many oil changes) decided to check the grease fittings to see if they were wet after leaving the lot. Dry as a bone. Took it right back and they said they somehow forgot. So I stood there where I could see the truck and it was in the bay but no one was touching it…. Turns out they didn’t even have a grease gun and sent someone to the parts store to get one. The next time I took it there I reminded the service writer that they had better grease it or I would be pissed and he agreed. Guess what. Same thing, dry as a bone. Needless to say I didn’t take it back there ever again and wasn’t long before the front axle had to be rebuilt with new king pins. My bad for not checking in the beginning.
Man that sucks. I love my Ford dealership it takes about an hour but they do a comprehensive inspection 5 tire rotation and oil change and send me a video of the inspection. Ford of Boerne if anyone is wondering.

I was talking about the future oil changes, but if you’re interested in learning a little bit about my drain issue with it, DM and we’ll talk for a couple of minutes. Party On!

where do you come up w it being 117° ?

it was very convenient for me to sit in my car in their work bay in the shade with windows open for 15 minutes as they changed my oil while I surfed the web.
It was 117 on Monday. Today is a cool breezy 108.
If I'm waiting on an oil change, I want a nice air conditioned lobby.

Maybe in the middle of winter when it's in the mid 80s.

Had tires rotated at Discount yesterday. Typical HARD SELL on you need new tires. No, No I do not. I'm still well above the wear bars, and they are only 4 years old so not even rotting yet.

I get home, the TPMS resynchs, and my right rear has 52 PSI in it. So then I had to drain 12 or so PSI out. Right rear was the previous spare. Discount always over inflates the spare (which is fine) but they are supposed to take it back to normal when they remount it as one of the road wheels.

I've always had good luck with Discount Tire compared to all of the other places. But yeah the last couple times I've been in there something really changed with the Hard Sell tactics. I never had any of those issues, but now they're kind of on my nerves.

I know a lot of these places get commission for anything they sell, so I am sure some of the employees push very hard…..

I'll probably* actually replace the tires with some Falcons once summer is over. But I'll order and pay online. Otherwise they will try to sell you whatever they keep in stock.

If I can find some nice Black Diamond take-offs on CL or FBM I'll do that instead.
