The 2.7L was one of the first Ford engines to go back to an oil pressure transducer from the "dummy gauge" switch they started using back in the late 80s. Since my Bronco is stuck in 6/28 build week purgatory I don't know if you can get an oil pressure readout from the IPC but you should be able to read the pressure from a scan tool like Forscan.

1600 miles and I don’t even have a build date yet. Clearly I pissed off Zeus or something

So, does one have to remove any of the steel bash plates (if equipped) to complete an oil change on the 2.7?

Cartridge style filters? This doesn't look like my 1992 Honda CB1000C?!?!? 😱

Thanks for the input ;) Here's the deal:

1. I always bring tools when I camp.

2. Lots of downtime and an O'Reilly 5 minutes away.

3. Some had said it might be good to do, and since my kids are already fighting over the Bronco when I die, I figure I need to take care of it.

4. I wanted to teach my oldest how to change oil.

5. I wanted to get to know the Bronco.

Sounds like $50 well spent, no?
Lol, No.😂🤣

but you do you my man

It’s not a guinea pig, beaver, hamster, squirrel, groundhog, or koala bear. :) And he likes leaves. 😁
I met a hoary marmot once nibbling on my jeans, but he never smiled like that.

THANK YOU! If the oil filter is top mounted, an oil extractor may be helpfull. I bought one from Harbor Freight years ago because I got sick of paying the high price to have the oil changed in a VW diesel. Just put a tube down the dipstick and it pulls out the oil. No need to go under the vehicle.
Changing the oil on my VW TDI is literally a pleasure. Oil extractor + top-mount filter FTW!

Spin on filters suck.
I guess each to their own, I don't mind them at all and don't have to deal with a single o-ring.... In addition you have some good performance choices, which I don't know if they make just filters without the canister.

Can you say quokka? My wife loves these things although we've never seen one in person.

Why do manufacturers even do this instead of just sticking with spin on filters?
Sticking with, or changing back to?

My 65 Impala with the 283 was a cartridge....my 04 Boxster was a cartridge.

Spin-ons are fine if/when you can get to them easily, get a tool around them properly, and aren't so tight to be difficult to get off. These three things don't often happen with spin-ons.

And of course with underside spin-ons you get a mess almost every time. I ended up with a nice puddle of dirty oil on my garage floor taking off my Durango's spin-on this weekend, thanks to bumping the collection pan with my elbow while trying to muscle the filter off. Getting the right angle to screw the new one on by feel is always fun too. I hate spin-ons and I hate underside filters.

Cartridges are so much more civilized, and the o-rings are really not an issue.
