Thoughts about my Bronco from a Jeep guy!

I'll be honest. I rented a jeep for 8 days in July while on vacation. I have 0 fucking clue why anyone would buy one anymore. It's a great example of lack of competition lead to complacency. I bet the percentage of people who could even get to the point where the IFS is "inferior" to a solid front axle off roading is so small, it's almost short sided marketing at this point. It's like having a worse experience for 99% of the time just so that 10 minutes of time goes an ounce smoother.

In my opinion, Jeep needs to cut $10k across the board to make up for the deficiencies compared to the bronco when it comes to every day life.

I think my favorite stupidity moment of the jeep was the fact that Android Auto requires a wired connection, but there is also no place on the console to put your phone when it's plugged in...

Yeah! Getting old sucks…while I started with an early bronco I became a pretty serious rock crawling Jeep guy and even daily drove a few cj2a s but got sick and long story short got a 2dr 2.7 bronco that has gotten me back on a few trails and like the thing more than I thought I would…welcome to the club!

The '25+ 2.3 is not the same as the 2020 2.3 other than displacement.

It was when I ordered my Bronco in 2020 and when it was delivered in '23.
So the current 2.3 is drastically different ? I thought the only real change was the dual injection. We make the block here where I work but I really don't keep up with it that much.

So what makes it different and it it still noisy as hell?

I am not aware of anyone else on here who would agree with you on the Sound System. I have a 23 Basequatch and I feel it is fine, but, I see many threads on how bad it is, and others that complain about the B&O system! Most who compare the two, would state the opposite.

I wonder if there have been improvements to the new systems?

I may upgrade it a little at somepoint, but have not been in any hurry to do so.

There must be something wrong with the 10 spd in my Bronco as the shifts are buttery smooth.

More of a matter of perspective. If he likes it, then that is all that really matters. I have the base 7 system. Honestly, it's not terrible for OEM. Many just don't care.

That said, it's headed to the stereo shop on Friday. Though that's a normal thing for me to replace any OEM system. The only OEM system I have heard that is somewhat decent is the B&O in my wife's 2019 Expedition.

Dang, 6’8”? I’m only 6’4” and spent a week and 1100 miles in a 2026 rubicon and if I had to drive another mile with the unmovable rearview mirror right in me line of sight blocking 1/2 the windshield I’d have gone nuts.

Good to here you lole the Bronco.I have a 2024 Bronco Big Bend 2.3 auto 4 door and my wife has a 2025 Jeep sport S 4 door with the 3.6.I like them both but the Bronco is like others have said a lot better for daily driving.They are both hardtops and the Bronco is a bit quieter on the inside even on the freeway.They both have the standard radios and to me seem about the same but I’m older and hearing isn’t as good as it used to be.i don’t know what the turning radius is on either but the jeep in a parking lot seems like it is a lot better.I do like my Bronco better but the jeep is good also.

So do you still have any Jeeps? I'll have to say, if I had to choose between my Bronco and my 392, it would be tough. I think the 392 would win. I just can't give up that crappy mpg.

It takes a lot to resist getting a CJ. It's the only run I've never owned (other than old military).

We're also still waiting on the bronco pics.

I was considering a 392 before I got my Wildtrak. I was considering a Braptor too. Even with my connections, the numbers just seemed absurd and really not worth it for what you get.

How aggressively can you really drive the 392 anyway? I'd rather dump that cash into an absurdly fast and loud car build that really performs the way I want it to.

Don't get me wrong, they seem fun as hell. Not knocking the choice.

The 2.3l/10 speed in the Bronco is not smooth in 1st and 2nd gear. It has a bit of a rough shift and also hesitates when lightly accellerating in the 2 lower gears. It does not exhibit this when on the throttle hard, nor does it do this in the higher gears..just 1st and 2nd. When in eco mode it does not do this however and that makes me wonder if it might be throttle mapping and the way i am accellerating rather than the truck itself.

If you want the best MPG, keep it out of Eco mode and keep it out of Normal mode.

Turbo Fords get their best mileage in Sport mode. This sounds non-intuitive, but Sport mode remaps the transmission shift points, keeping gears lower under acceleration. Lower gears = more torque with less boost, and boost is what kills your MPG.

Sport also prevents the transmission from skip shifting, if you care.

I don't have this issue with my Bronco, since I row my own gears, but the F-150 easily gets 2 mpg better mileage in Sport.

That rearview mirror is priceless, It prevented you from making a bad decision!

Your Sport mode must be different than mine. My Sport mode shifts at higher rpm than Normal mode which is what I expect of a Sport mode. It also has quicker shifts and is more responsive when I step on the accelerator pedal. As long as I drive the same in Sport and Normal modes, I get the same gas mileage. However, when I am in Sport mode, I feel sportier and get a heavier foot.

I reread your post and think your statement of keeping gears lower under acceleration may mean the same thing as shifting at higher rpm. Yes, boost kills mpg but so does rpm. It is kind of a balancing act.
