I have a similar odd sounding metallic flutter on my Bronco. Noticed around 3,000 miles.
Dealership claimed they do not know how to fix it.

I guess I can try to identify the cross member bolts myself.. as far as the shifter cable goes, that is way beyond my skill set

Does the sound in this video seem similar>? (more obvious toward the end)

It sounds identical to what I was hearing. You could at least make sure all the bolts are tightened before you take it back to the dealership. The shifter cable would be something covered by the warranty.

If this does turn out to be identical and I am able to resolve following the same steps as you, then I owe you a beer!

However, it should be noted that I bought my Bronco brand new and it has never been touched by anyone except the factory and the dealers. Meaning if my issue is also loose bolts... then your dealer screwed you and placed the blame elsewhere.

Not sure if you care to fight over $800, but I'll let you know the outcome of my situation regardless.

Thanks for responding. Cheers!

...Upon further review.. does the 2.3L not have a transmission cross member?

Iā€™mā€¦ not seeing one?

The 2.3 does not. You will have to find another low point on your vehicle to bang against rocks.
Are you sure this is coming from the undercarriage/engine and not from the interior?

100% certain. It's an RPM correlated sound occurring from outside the interior.
Sounds very similar to OP's issue.

Issue is that OP says his sound was resolved via securing a loose shifter cable and tightening loose cross member bolts

I have this same sound on my WIldtrak under similar conditions. Definitely more noticeable if the bronco has only been running for a short time.

Please let me know if you take it to the dealer and what they do about it.
My service manager acknowledged it and then had me drive a different brand new bronco with her that exhibited similar sounds.

Its clearly not intended to make these sounds.. but whatever the issue, its quite systemic and coming from the factory.

That sounds like Ford came out with a line of lawn mowers. Blow it up the rest of the way and have it towed in for warranty replacement. That shouldnā€™t be hard to pin point. Old rubber hose to the ear should help.

Brother, if I could get mine to blow up, I certainly would

$800 probably covered the amount of time it took them to diagnose the issue, plus correct it, so somewhat understandable. At least you have peace of mind knowing it's nothing serious.
