2023 7-Speaker System -- is subwoofer powered by amplifier or stereo receiver?

I think most folks know that Ford is including a subwoofer in 2023 models, but what I wanted to know is if the inclusion of the subwoofer means that the system will be powered by an amplifier, or will it still be powered by the stereo receiver.

I have a 22 raptor with the 7 speaker setup. I assume that is the same thing they're putting in the 23. The sub amp is just mounted on the enclosure. I'm finishing a stereo upgrade and happen to have the sub out, so here are a few pics

I'm planning to do a post on my upgrade soon, but in short, I put in a dsp/amp, replaced all speakers, and added a tailgate sub.

I can't say much about the wiring for sure, but I was able to find this one picture of the input connector (brown plug). It looks to me like the larger wires are power and ground and then there are 3 smaller wires.

It's subjective, but from my point of view the overall system sounded pretty decent for what it is. System volume was plenty adequate at highway speeds with the top off, and you could certainly hear there was some filler bass coming from the sub. My guess is that 80-90% of people would be pretty happy with it. The other 10% want a high end or booming system which of course it is not.

Same here, maybe go through your dealer/salesperson to sit in a 23 on their lot (yes there will be some). I do know that without premium audio in 21 and 22 models that there is no existing wiring ran back to the sub spot to quickly and easily add a factory sub

Its a 6in sub. If you look at my thread, I pulled it out and cut the hole bigger to fit an 8in sub
