Absolutely ridiculous!!!! Why in the hell would you want a refresh on a brand new vehicle when you probably don’t even have one yet? If you don’t like it, cancel your order.

Minor engineering adjustments, like MIC hard top, sure improve. Window adjustments to keep from wiggling, sure, but a refresh…..Come on?!?!?
I think you proved @JBlanco's point here. @rtazz17 does have a Bronco, which took me entire seconds to figure out.

Just because someone likes what they have doesn't mean they can't hope it improves, and just because someone is hoping that something improves doesn't mean that they don't like the version they have. Absolutely ridiculous indeed.

The redesign may come in the interior it’s actually needs it and what we will get is the full LCD screen from the Braptor since the new ranger has a full LCD screen and maybe better seating matériels and options and colors on the inside! I don’t think we will see a hybrid in this generation Bronco but you never know! There is no 2.7 or 3.0 liter hybrid V6 only the 3.5 liter but they could make one for the bronco a 2.7 liter twin turbo hybrid V6 would be a beast in the Bronco maybe even better than the 3.0 ecoBoost in the Braptor! A full electric Bronco will be the 7th generation!

The Lincoln Aviator has a PHEV 3.0L Powerboost, it was rumored to be going into the Braptor

There is also a gasoline 3.3L V6 naturally aspirated HEV in the Explorer, but who's to say it would be based on the V6 engine vs an NA 2.5L HEV I4 with upsizing the electric motors and pack. With all the talk on one hand about downsizing and the other is the end of the dinosaurs with ever increasing performance before the restrictions hit that force reductions in performance out of the ICE architecture.

The 2.5L engine is a traverse FWD/AWD application and hasn't been used on a longitudinal aka RWD setup.

The Explorer (RWD) HEV has been disappointing MPG wise from reviews I've seen of it.

Personally I think we will see a RWD hybrid 2.3L setup on the Bronco-It can be a mid level trim engine for the Bronco and Ranger and also shared with the Mustang. It might only be a 2.0L engine because of tax issues overseas, but I don't think it would affect the other products because overseas, people are paying a premium on a Mustang anyways.

Given current events at Ford and the layoffs with Ford Blue, I wouldn't expect anything really different ICE since development will be wound down over the next 10 years or less.

Technically in the most recent applications of that particular 2.5L HEV have been FWD based, however it does share a common lineage to the RWD 2.0-2.3-2.5L I4 duratec blocks so that would not be a major hurdle to over come if they went down that particular path.

Again this was just spit balling ideas and seeing the writing on the wall that the companies are being legislated out of the ICE business, how unlikely it would be to use a V6 hybrid on the Bronco, except possibly as rumored for the Raptor instead of the EcoBoost only 3.0L TT GTDI that did make it's way into the production truck.

The mainstream option would be some sort of I4 with or without turbo and the hybrid system more than likely. The Jeep 4xE uses their 2.0L Turbo and the plug in hybrid system, not a V6 on their HEV.

But yes with the alleged reduction in staffing on the only profitable part of the business right now, it doesn't seem that feasible to be getting much in the way of a newly developed ICE engine.

That would be cool, I have been looking at PHEV models, but today the technology range isnt quite there yet. The 3.0 PHEV has a 21 mile all electric. The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is 11 miles. If these ranges were closer to 50 miles, I would buy one for a commuter, but for me, the range is an issue as I am 5-7 miles out of town so just going into town almost chews up the range.

It doesn't quite work that way-Think of it as your first 21 miles as "free" without gas usage-you still get the benefits of having better gas mileage then a non PHEV and in the 3.0L a lot more performance.

It could be possible. For those arguing Ford can't keep up with production, what does production have to do with the priorities of the design and engineering teams?

For example, the 2015 Mustang got refreshed in 2018, for the worse in my opinion. The headlights on 2015-2017 are much nicer.

I would not wait for a Bronco refresh. It may get worse.

I know how it works. I want to take advantage of both modes.

How often do they refresh in the mustang? I feel like the bronco and the mustang are both enthusiast cars, so that should mean they would be on about the same timeline.

IIRC the RAV4 prime is rated for around 40 miles on an 18kWh battery. If they could get even that much in a Tacoma Prime my family would be all over it. 18kWh means you can charge it full on a household Level 1 in around 12 hours, so you'd be full every morning. It also means that most Level 2s could fill it in between one and two hours, so even if that range isn't quite enough for your entire round trip then you can likely top up enough while at your destination to at least get you back home.

In your case with the short drive in (and assuming no charging opportunity while there), even with a shorter range PHEV I'd recommend using gas on the highway then switching to all electric mode once you're in town. That's likely the most efficient use of both energy sources.

For the "modern era" Roughly 4-6 years:

Fox Body (3rd gen) came out in 79
First refresh was 1983 with new tail lights and front fascia.
Second refresh was 87 with the more aerodynamic front end

Fourth Gen (SN-95) was 1994
1st refresh was 1999 (major improvement in looks IMHO)

Fifth gen was 2004 (S-197)
First refresh was 2010 (ford hit the rear end with the ugly stick)
In 2011 it got new powertrains, so the 2010 is the red-headed stepchild with the older engines but the uglier rear.
2013 had a minor refresh (I think just the tail lamps) which made them uglier yet)

6th gen was 2015

As others have said a refresh can be a good thing (1999) or bad (2010)

Yes, there will be a hybrid, est. MPG ~23. 40 inch tires will be standard on Sasquatch. Supposedly the wildtrak will come with a 1200 watt microwave, actually making the wildtrak worth something. Optional 6x6 trim too.

In all seriousness, no one knows man. Ford can’t even figure out how to ship all of the 21 models yet. Let alone think about a year from now.
