I have a 2023 Bronco 2 door Big Bend Sasquatch. I have a 12000 Smittybuilt winch that fits the modular bumper already. Should I install it before putting it up for sale. I never installed it because we don’t go off-road to need carrying the additional 80 lbs. every day.

We have a 4 door Bronco Outer Banks with more room for our bigger family. Drive our Maverick most of the time. In our 70’s.

No. You're assuming the next owner might want a winch. I wouldn't for the reasons you gave for not installing it. And it won't change the price you could sell it for unless you find a buyer who really wants a winch.

You'd do better either offering the winch to the buyer or putting it up for sale separately.

What you're thinking of doing is similar to remodeling a house before you sell it. Never a good idea.

You're correct with the winch, but.. uhh, remodeling a house to sell for a premium is a huuuuuuuge business.

That is true. It's a huge business for remodeling contractors, but usually only the remodeling contractor makes any money. It seldom adds enough value to the house to make up for the cost. There are exceptions depending on the condition of the house.

House flippers will do a quick and dirty remodel to make a house easier to sell.

Well, if you hire a contractor to do the work, of course you aren't going to get much or any benefit because the contractor is going to charge the premium. But, doing the work yourself will generally benefit you a great deal.

That's true since you're not paying yourself the going labor rate nor contractor profit.

I know that I wouldn't pay more for a vehicle with a winch on it. I might pay less, because I'm more likely to suspect it was flogged offroad. I'd offer the vehicle for the price you want, and offer to throw the winch in for the extra you want. If you get it, great. If not, sell the winch separately to someone specifically looking for a winch.

If you’re going to trade it in, the winch will absolutely not add any value. I’ve been through this with a Jeep gladiator. I wish I had pulled everything aftermarket off of it before I traded it in. I could’ve sold all that stuff on Facebook marketplace later. Which is what I would do in your situation offer it to the buyer if that sweetens the deal and if it does not then sell it separately.

Agree with above, it will not add value. You're better off selling the winch separately. Sell it on FB Marketplace or Ebay (if you can ship it).

For the most part, if it wasn't listed on the sticker of your Bronco when you bought it, the dealer is not going to give you anything for it on a trade in.

Only factory options really move the needle on resale - unless you are a really good salesperson doing a private sale. Most companies are just gonna look at the Window Sticker and what condition the paint and interior are in

They'll downgrade you for paint repairs too. My first S197 Mustang, every time it got dinged, I took it in to get fixed. When I went to buy my GT, they gave me what I felt was a lowball offer and told me "there's not a single panel on here that hasn't had paint work done." I found myself offended knowing they they'd happily flip it with "perfect paint", told them I would keep the vehicle and I called my sister and asked her if she wanted it. Technically, she's theoretically going to pay me what they offered me in trade for it, but given that was 2012 or so, I doubt she remembers she ain't paid for it yet. Still, if I am going to give it away, I'd rather my sister had it than a used car lot.

I've sold two vehicles on Carvana in the last few years. They seem to always offer the highest price. Might sell my Ram on there when I get a Bronco.

You will get nothing for the winch. I would only offer it to close a sale if someone is willing to pay your price for the Bronco, but is a little hesitant and needs a little push

Everglades is the only Bronco where the presence of a winch makes any difference.

most buyers wont want added 150 lb on front end id put OE bumper back on and offer the bumper winch package as an extra, after youve received the funds.
