I could have sworn the paperwork in the box says it's made somewhere in California. Or maybe it was just designed.
"Designed in California"...

True, and my post was in no way meant to justify ADVs marketing these tops as USA made.
It was more to point out that Made in China doesn't necessarily meant crap, any more that Made in USA automatically means quality...
exactly, its the fact that ADV will do the FINAL ASSEMBLY and make damn well sure that the product meets their standard is important.
It is another thing to buy something made in China that ships in complete through a retailer and voila YOU CAN HAVE CRAPOLLA
GOTTA BELIEVE ADV WILL TIGHtLY MONITOR THE END RESULT .
Now FOMOCO handling of quality is another item and thats made in the MAP

Totally agreed, my point, China is well known for little to no patent protection and a track record of "borrowing" and reselling someone else's design.

How does a knockoff, made in China, become a knockoff of a product (allegedly) already made in China?

You and your witchcraft of words!

Who was first?????????? One $699, another is $399. 🤪 No rhyme or reason. All made/re-made by the same little hands in China.

There's an episode of Snail Trail 4x4 where Tyler Harris of MORRFlate talks about his improvements to the TenSix getting repackaged and sold as the Napa MaxiTrac (?) v2. So this time around he did his homework, got patents on the improvements in the TenSix PSI Pro, and hopes that means no one in the US can steal it without being shutdown.

I kinda wonder how Harbor Freight can sell a ripoff of the Snap-On without recourse if they've gotten patents?

Anyhow, like any great soap opera, this thread spins on an on and on and on and on and on and on...

Honest question that I'm hoping someone can chime in on.

I have heard the final assembly by ADV a few times but I have also heard customers will have to assemble the top as well. Has any light been shed on what will be assembled by ADV and what the customer can be expected to do assembly wise?

ADV tops have to be assembled together, from what I've heard. I'm assuming it's "connect the top to the sides and install the glass." Sounds pretty simple.

Other options on the market come pre-assembled.

It'll ship packed flat, so the two side pieces and rear window/panel will need to be bolted onto the top panel to "assemble" the rear section.
(As I understand it anyway).
They had sent out a list of needed tools to complete assembly/installation a while back. Mostly Torx drivers/wrenches

I'm not exactly sure what "final" (semi-final) assembly ADV is actually doing.
I assume installing glass and rubber gaskets.

From what a culled out of the videos, it looks like the 2 pieces of the top are fitted together and filled with closed cell foam in California.
China appears to be making all the fiberglass parts . Ergo the Final ASSEMBLY In California.
Foam, glass, molding. Then it is packed and shipped out to the customers who put the 2 sides and the rear on.
The install video would be nice to see, I see believe that the top is placed upside-down and then the 2
Sides and the back are attached. The entire top is then righted and guided into t he existing hole mounts on the bronco. EXACTLY LIKE YOU WOULD ATTACH THE OEM. John had said he timed himself and it took 1 hr. Of course you need at least 2 people to safely pick it up and position it.
Exactly like the oem install on you tube.
I'm going to get as many people, hopefully 2 on each side to get it in

Once it goes on it ain't coming off

What is the formula to determine the equivalent of "1 hour to assemble"
to "Delivering in late 2022"?

That's the final final. Like a fireworks show or a concert it is hard to guess the final final.

Hopefully ADV will do final/full assembly, then partial disassembly for shipping, so "final" re-assembly?

Yea h, ha ha, I figure 1 and a half hours to fully remove the soft top and related hardware that goes with it.
I've never so much as put in down so it will take me a while. Me I'm figuring 3 hrs to unpack organize and put the top together and install it. I assume it's straightforward. Buy doing something the first time takes more time. When I help my buddy. Aka TEN THUMBS. Install his, I will probably do it much faster. I will post my prowess when I complete the job. I also have to mount the oem roof rack which has become part of my poarch the last 2 years
