Hi guys,

Quick question. Is there a way to limit how far the tailgate travels? Better yet, a way to lock it in place?

I was boiling water on the tailgate table and it kept moving. It'd be nice to lock it when camping, especially on uneven ground like I was over the weekend...

Thanks.

This part arrived yesterday and I installed it. WOW, I am so impressed. Here is what it has done for me:

1) Limits the tailgate to 90 degrees (roughly)
2) It actually assists with opening the tailgate by pushing it open. Almost like a regular assisted car trunk.

Well worth the $30 plus shipping.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Sounds like what I've been looking for. I ordered one just now.

I hate that the tailgate fights me everytime I open it. It's comical watching my 10 year old daughter try and open it. :ROFLMAO:

I'm glad it worked out for you, thanks for being the guinea pig :)

I'll bookmark that sucker myself in case I go that route.

I ordered the Hammerbuilt strut last week. Was out of town until yesterday so I just got it installed.
Such a HUGE improvement over the stock. I hated that it always felt like it was fighting me. Opening, closing, didn't matter. The Hammerbuilt will open it completely for you. So be aware of any cars that are close. But it limits it at a hard 90 degrees. It has some resistance when closing but it's smooth and just slides back until it's closed. Very cool.
