I had mine painted cyber orange as well. Yes they had to sand it down first and yes I had them clear coat it. I had a few brackets painted when I had this painted. The entire cost was $350.00 so it's probably going to cost a good $200.00 to paint but it looks so much better and almost guaranteed not to rust. Adding just this reinforcement will not require changing the rubber bump stops. I had to change mine because I went with larger wheels and tires. Get the bracket on first and then make sure your spare tire still firmly rests on those stops. The install is easy...watch the video from the manufacturer.Hey, how is your RC tailgate reinforcement holding up? Any rust yet? Did your body shop have to sand down the powder coating before they painted? Did they use clear coat too? How much does a body shop charge for that? Did you also change the rubber tire bumps on bottom? Sorry for all the questions, I'm thinking of doing same thing to my vehicle.
