Base Base Good Enough for Sand/Beach Driving?

yes - I have the base/base - I followed a jeep rubicon and another sas bronco through trails and I kept up and led the way through many obstacles.

Like T-roy says, definitely. It will do more than you think. All the other trims up to Wildtrack and Badlands are virtually the same with comfort options, suspension identical.

Just be sure to add any option you might want at purchase as it may be more expensive/difficult/impossible to add them later. I really wish I had gotten the roof rails, mod bumper with skid plates, etc. Note that these may slow your build down.

That being said, I drove it to California from Nashville and never see myself driving anything else. (Ok, maybe a Badlands one day, but you get the picture.)

I was thinking about adding the bumper if I decide on the Base.

Stripper Base is fine for beach driving and a surprising level of off-road. Basically anything that doesn't require a lot of ground clearance and traction. Sandy beaches shouldn't be a problem at all, even with the stock tires if you air them down. But I'd suggest looking for a taller, wider tire just for better floatation and to gain some extra ground clearance. Make sure you give her a good bath after beach running! And don't lay under the car and use an impact gun (unless you have good eye protection on)!

I had a few Mustangs in the past, but never on the beach.

I don’t do a lot of off road driving, mostly light trails. Anyway….

I’m just wondering if the Base Base is enough to conquer some light trails, beach driving, and a bit of snow?

I will probably add some bigger tires at some point.

Yes. a 2wheel drive vehicle is likely good enough for most of that. The Base Bronco will be great for you!

Yeah, wish I had done that, get the skid (ok, bash) plates as well. Might delay your build. I can't find one in the wild.

For many years I drove a 2006 Explorer on the beach in Assateague without any problems. Equipped only with 4H and 4L drive modes and completely stock, including tires. I think you will be more than fine on the beach, particularly because the suspension on your Bronco will let you keep your speed and momentum beyond what I could in the Explorer. I have recently got my non-Sas OBX, and my couple beach drives so far have been markedly easier.

I also have a stripper base, but I put on 32"s. No other parts/mods at all. Would I have to worry about not having skid plates for light off-roading?

Base is fine for that stuff and more (although personally I'd bump up to 32/33 inch tires at some point). It's more about what you are up for. You can do more in the base than a lot of folks will ever do in their pavement Squatches.
