You are correct. The difference is that it's harder to justify a catastrophic engine failure on a Forescan reprogramming of allowing the power windows to close with the fob than on a modification of the engine's lubrication system.
It's your engine and your money. I only wish you the best of luck and the most reliable 2.7 on the planet. Good luck.
Also note that if you are using Forscan for keyfob adjustments, and if you paid for even a short-term license, you aren't getting your money's worth. I was referring to things like adding Sport Mode...things for which a dealer could easily deny a powertrain claim (even though all our Broncos have the mode buried in the programming).

If you want to follow that logic make sure you don't add ANYTHING aftermarket to your vehicle. But while considering sticking exclusively to OEM, note that scores of Bronco (and other car brand) owners have had warranty claims denied even though they never altered ANYTHING. Sometimes it is a coin toss whether an owner alters something or not as to whether or not a dealer shoots down a warranty claim...and keeping your vehicle OEM won't prevent every dealership from denying whatever warranty claim one of us may have in the future.
The purpose of posting that story is for people that love to quote Magnuson Moss and say the dealer has to PROVE the modification caused a failure. The dealer doesn't have to prove squat unless you sue them, get lawyers involved, etc. I made this statement in another thread on this forum, where someone replied with the thread I linked to. I think it is a great example of just what can happen when you get lawyers involved, otherwise MM is just a scrap of paper.

If you do some reading on the history of MM, you'll find the intent isn't to allow people to throw 24" lifts and 50" tires on their Bronco and then make Ford PROVE that this caused their transfer case to fail. The intent is to prevent manufacturers from requiring ONLY OEM parts for regular maintenance like oil filters, brake pads, etc. This is to prevent the manufacturers from having monopolies on maintenance parts.

My point is (from having worked at a dealership) sometimes a warranty claim truly is like a coin toss...whatever the modification has been or hasn't been it depends on how willing the dealership is to try to fight it. I will wager that given the simplicity and design of this adapter that the likelihood of it causing a catastrophic 2.7 failure is no more probable than the OEM cartridge filter causing a catastrophic engine failure. On the other hand, blocking your entire intended cooling area for your intercooler is much more likely to cause a failure over time...yet many folks think nothing of sticking a bumper and or a winch over both the red area and the orange area and not even considering the possibility of Ford denying a warranty claim.

Many if not most manufacturers plan for engines to fail at some point (typically just after the warranty period). For me it is simply about mitigating the progressive engine damage (that damage occurs on every single engine ever made). From the second you first start your engine when your car is new, it's gradually reaching its expiration date from that day forward...and cold starts are one of the main contributors.

I didn't include this product on the forum trying to convince anybody to buy one...I simply posted the information in case somebody was seeking further information regarding one (specifically how the install went and whether or not it leaks).
I love me a good warranty-Karen hahaha keep up the good work man! Thanks for the write-up.. it’s something I’ve thought about as well.

No shortage of Karens these days! I had thought about the adapter for some time, and the input from the Pentastar folks (I realize the 2.7 and the Pentastar are different animals, but similar concepts related to oil flow/lack thereof at start up) was very positive. Many of the accolades come from fellow folks who wrench, so that made me feel better. lf you end up getting one, I think you'd be impressed at the build quality/ease of install/flexibility to use various filters of your choice. The Karens can continue to enjoy their 100% completely stock vehicles and have all their services done at the dealership and keep a journal/spreadsheet of each visit.

Funny enough the reason it was on my radar is my wife drives a modded WK2 grand cherokee w/ the 3.6 Pentastar.
Solid filter choice as well - pretty much solely run WIX in all my stuff.

The stock vehicle warranty-worry-warts crack me up.. they sound like the life of the party 😂 Call my dangerous but I peel the plastic stickers off of screens too… I know. Some folks need to get busy livin‘! Don’t tip-toe through life to arrive safely at death.

My dad brought me up wrenching on our stuff my whole life so I guess it’s just normal.. and I do understand not everybody was raised that way.

If you had one of these adapters installed and had a warrantee claim, why wouldn't you just pull it off and put a stock filter back on prior to the dealer visit?

Just asking for a friend...lol

It is VERY easy to swap the units out...at least that is what my friend told me...

Interesting product. How come when I crack the seal on my cartridge filter I can hear the oil drain out of the filter housing though? That's why I change the filter before draining the sump.

When you loosen your OEM filter housing enough the center post with the o-ring allows the residual oil (held in by vacuum like an upside down glass) to drain back into the block. That should be done before you drain the pan to give the remaining oil a chance to reach the pan. On the Baxter unit, the oil is meant to stay in it until air is applied to the Schrader.

Thanks for sharing! I'm not a huge fan of the cartridge oil filters. I also like that this will enable me to run the same filter that my other Fords do.
I found an interesting tidbit when I decided to change oil in my 2.3 Bronco for the first oil change. I thought I might as well do same to my 2005 4.0 Tacoma. I'm a Mobil 1 guy...worked and retired with XOM. so in looking up oil filter # for the Bronco...it seemed familiar...same as Toyota.
Also same oil. Makes my oil and filter inventory simple.

Every automotive engine oil pump I have seen is a positive displacement pump. As such the output flow is fixed unless the inlet is restricted. If the oil filter has too much restriction it will either bypass or blow off.

It's actually the opposite. Most automotive oil pumps for the last few decades have been variable displacement pumps.
