I bout a 90 degree usb c to usb c cable and then dremeled out a little hole for the cable in the mount . I don’t get any error messages and charges way faster than the factory ford wireless charger

Looks like it’s for the whole kit. You choose one of the three available mounting solutions in the “build your kit” section.

A MagSafe charging puck is about $20, the the metal mount makes up $90 of the price.

I like this charging solution, but that’s Monopoly money pricing.
