Hi guys,
Just want to first say thx to everyone who replied to my question about a fix for my creaking tailgate. I went with some window insulation stripping and it worked perfectly! Anyways, can a stock OBX fit 285 70 R18's without rubbing and without removing the crash bars? I have 275's on my stock OBX wheels now and they look good and are probably the sweet spot-I probably won't ever raise my 2 door but think 285's would look cool.
Let me know if anyone has done this without issues...
Thx everyone.

The difference between the 275 and 285 is really minimal. I personally would wait until I needed new tires before swapping. I'm only guessing you still have meat on your 275s.

I'm not planning on changing them out til l need to. Its gonna be a minute as l only have 14k on my truck. I was just curious if the width/height of 285's would be an issue without any accommodating mods to prevent rubbing...
Thx

it'll fit, but it would look a little silly if you didn't also do 1" or 1.5" level on the front.

I'm really happy with it actually and knew 33's would fit and look good without mods. I just think slightly bigger/wider tires would be perfect...

Maybe I'll just get meatier 33"s next time. If l knew how loud the cabin would be at freeway speeds (Lol) l would've put RidgeGrapplers on or something similar...

I put 33s on my OBX 285/70/17 on new wheels of course and I had to remove the crash bars, they rubbed at full wheel lock turning.
I'm pretty sure 33's on 17's are wider tires then 33's on 18's. 33's on 18's are bigger in diameter but less wide. I've never heard or felt tire rub...

Some forum members are putting Sas sized tires (315/70R17) on their OBX and other such version Broncos, using stock +55mm offset wheels and no lift. Although a few have mentioned some rub against the sway bar at full lock. And I bet they might have the tire hitting the fender in certain conditions off-road without a lift.

But yeah the 285/70R18 should fit, but might need to remove the crash bars. The crash bars don't seem a big deal anyway, they are not even included on the Sas.

You could be right. I wanted beefy and I hated the minivan wheels on the OBX so I repped them right away.

You don't need a bigger tire, what you need are BF Goodrich K02 275/70r18s. They look more aggressive and they are very quiet and smooth on the road. A 285 in those tires there (which don't look very aggressive) wouldn't give you the improvements you were hoping for.

You can definitely run the 285/70-18ā€™s without mods, and they wonā€™t rub. I have 285/75-17 Toyo ATIIIā€™s on my stock BD, and the size is virtually identicalā€¦

That sounds more like an offset issue. Stock wheels are +55, and if you put different wheels on, I would bet they have more poke, which means more outside swing. So that tire can rub the crash bars, when the same exact tire on a stock 17ā€ rim would notā€¦
