Body bolt washers

Is there a trick to getting the washer to give more clearance without beating the ever living F@#$ out of it. Asking cause I need to squeeze the rockslide step slider bracket in.

Having not seen the bolt, are you saying that the washer is captured by the bolt?

Have you tried to put a large socket over the bolt, so you can apply even force on the washer. Then hitting it with a Dead Blow or Rubber Mallet?

Make sure that the bolt is full engaged in the body mount so you don't damage the threads.

Yeah, immediately after the washer there's 3 threads that capture the washer, then no threading, then threads that go into the body.

I ended up using a small bastard file and trimming the problem threads just enough to get the washer up for clearance.

It is a captive washer. You can't get more clearance without cutting the washer off.

I had to loosen mine to get the bracket on. Anybody know the torque spec to retighten?
