So, I did a 3/4” body lift that I figured was cheap enough to see if I like it and left it for about a month.

In the end I really hated the gap it left for front and rear bumpers. I plasti dipped the body hat I could see with the new gap and still hated it.

Anyway, I started feeling a “click” right under my left foot and went to examine what was making the sound and found that the body mount bolt had fallen out.

I decided it was a good time to remove the body lift and replace the bolt.

Well, I go to put a new bolt in and the threads on the nut in the body are stripped enough to not torque down. FML

Anyone know how to access and put a new nut in the body or have any other ideas?

Are you talking about the body mount under the driver side footwell area? If so, it looks like that's an internal nut which means you have to replace the mount and the bolt. Pics would help.

Can’t help with the nut problem, but surprised that the gap showing is not painted body color. Good idea to remove it, a half done body lift never looks good.

I'd simply re-tap using a larger drill and tap. Use tap drill size at least equal to the major diameter of the current thread. This is provided you can access it and there is sufficient wall of material.

My vehicle is wrapped and original color is white. That picture was taken before I plasti-dipped it black and before removing the body lift. Still hated the look of that gap when black though...

I am no expert on this topic for sure but, how about a heli-coil?

Ive used these before but am concerned about the access being pretty difficult. Tapping new threads and using a larger bolt similarly concerns me.

I was hopeful that maybe someone knew of a way to access that internal nut from above or something I may not be aware of before trying to resort to re-tapping threads and/or using a helicoil.

This situation seems like its going to be a real bitch to resolve...

If you’re talking about the nut for the large body bolt, it’s more than likely a cage nut welded to the cab floor. You’ll need to pull up the carpet/flooring to try and locate it and repair/replace it. I can’t find an image in the parts catalog that shows it.

Ah shit, you're right. Not sure what the hell I was thinking. Here's what I could find in the WSM.
Frame and Body Mounting
Body Mounts

The body support mounts:

  • secure the body to the frame.
  • cannot be lubricated during body support mount installation
NOTE: Body mount bolts are reusable.

NOTE: Body mount nuts are not reusable.

If reusing the body mount bolts, follow the below steps:

  • Body bolt threads must be cleaned of thread sealer by using a wire wheel or wire brush.
  • Apply a new treatment of threadlock sealer to the body bolt threads.
  • FESM body mount retainer cage nuts must be serviced as an assembly.
  • Refer to the following illustrations for body mount torque values.

Thanks for supplying all of this.

So looking at Item #1 I would need to replace this, I just need to figure out how to remove the stripped one and get the new one in...

Good find. I didn’t even think to look in the workshop manual.

Yes. The cage of the nut will more than likely just be tack welded in. You should be able to bend the cage back, remove the nut plate. You'll then have to find a new nut that will fit and then you should be able to close the cage back around it.
This would be much easier if Ford showed a replacement in the catalog, but you should be able to make it work either way.

It should look something like this..
