  • Doc fee capped at $100 (or less)
  • Admin fee of $275 (mandatory, non-negotiable)
  • Pricing on factory-built options at invoice price - .4%
  • No shenanigans with dealer-installed mandatory "accessories" like VIN etching and nitro-filled tires (though you will want to remind them that Ford has said this is not acceptable, to be sure they are kept honest)
Theoretically, that is ALL you should have to worry about. The dealer is required to provide you with an X-Plan-specific invoice showing everything you will pay for and the X-Plan-specific price.
Ok got it! Big thanks for the info & breakdown ... looks like about a $1300 difference from what Stephen's advertised vs a local Xplan purchase ... now to roadtrip or not is the next decision ...

I thought I would give the Ford dealer where I bought my Raptor an opportunity to continue our business relationship with my purchase of the Bronco. Obviously, I way overestimated how much they value my business — their response is below. I shutter to think what the admin fee would be for new customers!

So if I got an email from my dealer that says "Thanks for your reservation. I wanted to inform you that your vehicle will sell for MSRP."

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm confused on how these things are going to be priced and what I should ask or expect from them.

IMO, that makes your dealer one of the majority at best. Smelling a hugely popular vehicle, they don't plan to do anything to attract more business beyond waiting for Ford's system to assign new buyers to them purely by zip code algorithm.

But other dealers, especially Granger in Iowa and Stephens in West Virginia, have taken the bull by the horns and wrestled it to the ground so that everyone gets hamburgers for dinner if they want. You may want to snoop around the forum here and check out Granger's and Stephen's offers -- Des Moines is pretty close to you! -- and research how to apply for and use X-Plan to purchase your Bronco at invoice or lower. Screw MSRP and your dealer. That's what I've told mine.

Well, I responded to Kain Ford and informed them that I thought an admin fee to a repeat customer was a ridiculous offer. That resulted in Bill Kain sending the email below (not sure where he is going with his xplan comment).

What a joke. I know I’m obsessed with the new Bronco, but come on! This is their job. Are they too good to lift a finger to search the most popular forums? Or are they so blinded by greed that they know what is “fair”, but plan to bend you over the barrel if you don’t know what is “fair”. Lexington is 2.5 hours from Stephen’s. I hope Bill Kain feels the vacuum that is created by the mass exodus of customers to West Virginia. Viva la @StephensAutoCenter !!!

Bill followed up my email to him which detailed what I have learned on this forum with the email below. The only reason I am attaching these email communications is to set forth the disingenuous and misleading communications that dealerships engage in with prospective customers. The only genuine part of his response is that he is going to charge whatever he can get while the vehicle is “hot” and look at xplan and other alternative pricing when the interest in the vehicle is not as intense. Of course, he owns the business and can elect whatever pricing practice he desires; as a customer, I will not do business with an organization that does not even attempt to look for a “win/win” outcome. What confuses me the most is that I purchased my Raptor from them at a price below MSRP - which was a good deal in 2011. Not sure what has changed.

If you have an Xplan pin from the Mustang Owners club, I cannot think of one reason it would not be valid —it appears to be invalid at Kain Ford. Don’t let Kain Ford sow seeds of doubt — they just want their admin fee!

Also, it is up to the discretion of the dealership to accept the ADX-Plan or not, and since this guys seems like a greedy bastard, he won't accept that plan until he possibly has stock on his lot. I cant even believe how many reservations this guys got and those poor souls. Unbelievable
