Bronco grilles being sold on craigslist

So the grilles are actually metal? Since when they weld things (letters) like that? I HIGHLY doubt theyre welding letters to the grille. Unless its plastic welded. And even then thats suspect.

However, I would think a drill bit and a screw would be all thats required to re-install letters back after paint.

No, plastic can be welded too. Take a peek, wish I could direct you specifically, but there are pictures of the back sides of the letters.

I knew it wasnt metal welded! Plastic welded is even simpler. Use a small enough drillbit to match the holes on the grille and cut out the plastic weld, paint letters, screw them back to the grille. So easy a Neanderthal can do it

Ok, I found a post in an older grille lettering back lighting thread that was recently added to that describes it as a post that is apparently melted. So a little of both.

It’s likely that they’re just little tabs through the holes that are flattened out with a hot iron.

The holes in the grille look perfect for a replacement letter with a post and speed nut type attachment. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't something on the market relatively soon after they hit the streets.

Nothing like the smell of melted plastic. Yes, the 'welding' rod got pretty damn hot.

I do remember that. But I also worked at an industrial plastics supply house. Plastics welding guns and rod of various shapes and material. Just like metal you need to choose the filler based on the materials you are joining.
