True...sad, but true. I have lived all sides of this.
You'll never recoup dollars or usefulness of $11k in mods. You might recoup $4k worth of mods in usefulness.
But if having a $30k Bronco with or without mods brings you joy, you win.
Paying extra for components and functionality hardly if ever used, with hope of some payoff down the road in resale, is the foolish play.

Initially, skipping 4WD shaved $2,000 off the list price, but only the X and Sahara trims could be had with rear-wheel drive. A base 2007 Wrangler Unlimited X with RWD listed for just $19,750 before destination when it was new. That money didn’t buy many amenities, though air conditioning and a CD player were standard fare.

Those are the only 2wd Wranglers I know of as well. I was looking for something more authoritative than AT but searching the web sucks now a days.
