I have four of the cliq chairs. I think they're a bit small and particularly suck in SAND. Given limited storage it is nice I can fit a bunch of them in the rig. Personally though I've made room for a larger and much more comfortable chair. The cliq chairs have become backups.

I have tried many chairs, these two are my two favorites

Front Runner Expander Camping Chair
Pros
  • Fast setup
  • Very well built
Cons
  • Not high backed, better for eating than relaxing
  • Heavy, 9lbs
  • Can tople backward if the ground is uneven or you like to lean back
  • Shape can be awkward to pack
  • Price

Marchway High Back Chair
(I have the previous version, just ordered the new one)

Pros
  • Comfortable, high back
  • Good price
  • Packs down small (for a high back)
  • Light
  • Sturdy
Cons
  • Longer setup/takedown time compared to the Front Runner
  • No cup holder

I was actually quite impressed how it held my fat a$$ in soft sand. I do agree, they are my backup chairs that I keep in my truck all the time, but for the size they are fairly comfortable.

I tried all sorts of chairs but just couldn’t get comfortable until I tried the Iceco camp chairs. They’re not cheap but are very comfortable and seem very well made. Sometimes I pull one out while I’m watching tv because I like it better than my couch😂

Because I am a total cheapskate, I bought several of these at a local garage sale for $1 each.

I got 3 of them, none match but I don’t care, $3 for 3 chairs is a good deal.

I'm right there with you. Besides, I can't really stand those ass hammock chairs, they're just plain uncomfortable to me.

These lay flat or fit up sideways in the back next to the cooler and that's good enough for me.

Bought a Marchway to try out. Thanks for the suggestion.

I crawl on rocks. I sit on rocks.
Where I live, its getting so crowded you have to bring your own rock......so I bought some chairs.

I use these. They fold up nice and compact!

I also have the Front Runner chair. Small and quick to setup. However it’s not much of a lounging chair. Great for eating and playing cards. But not as good for stargazing.

I also got one of these kilosgear chairs.
https://kilosgear.com/products/high-back-armchair-2

It’s much more suited to lounging. Packs up very small. It’s not as good as their marketing. It’s Chinese with really good marketing. But it’s not bad. They have a newer/larger version now that also packs up small. I’m tempted. But not gonna pull the trigger yet.

Thx for the tip on Marchway. These are fundamentally the same as the kilosgear chair I posted about at less than 50% of the cost. (I was wondering where to find these without the kilosgear marketing markup.) And I agree with your assessment of both chairs as I also have the frontrunner.

I will recommend the Alps Mountaineering King Kong Chair. I’m a taller guy and these are high enough to keep my legs comfortably at 90 degrees. 20 years in the Army and my knees are shot. So if my bottom is lower than my knees sitting down they begin to ache something serious. They are heavier than most carrying them but the quality is absolutely present.
