This ^No argument here. I've been carrying for 35 years and I firmly believe you should never leave one in a vehicle anyways. Even with a vault it's only encased in plastic so a good smack with a hammer will tear it right apart. Take the vault and stick it in a vise and crowbar it open. But you're talking to someone who has an 1150 lb safe in his bedroom. ?
Side note...even those car vaults do not need much to get inside. Father-in-law lost the keys to his and took me 30 seconds to get into it with maybe a scuff mark and no tools used. learned a trick from an older retired officer.
