Well, I'm just about at the end of my rope...

I was a 2020 order with a 6/27 build week and a 7/1 blend week. After the 3 week shutdown, I received little word from Ford other than I saw the modules popped in late July and was told by my dealer that it was built. Ford provided me with an ETA (via chat and from dealer) of 8/13-8/19 initially. As such, I started getting the gears in motion to sell my existing car.

Then the date got pushed. And again. And again. The dealer blamed a rail embargo in California that was backing everything up, the chat gave me nothing other than the updated ETAs. So when the ETA started getting pushed by only 1 day when I checked, I decided to sell my car, expecting the Bronco to show up at the dealership any day.

Today, I called the dealer and he told me something that made my blood boil. Apparently, there is another microchip shortage and my vehicle (as I'm assuming hundreds of others) has been placed "on hold" for chips. This is the first time anyone has even brought it up to me. Anyone who thought this chip shortage had abated was dead wrong - there are hundreds (if not thousands) of Broncos sitting at MAP waiting for chips with no real expectation of when it will be fixed. At this point, I don't even know what to do. Part of me wants to rid my hands of the damn thing and buy another vehicle. Part of me wants to hold out and rent a car in the meantime, but I am apoplectic at how Ford has handled this entire process.

TL;DR - The chip shortages are back, and if you're waiting on your Bronco, don't hold your breath.

When you track your Bronco, what does it show? In production, Built, waiting for shipment, on Hold? just curious, I am soon to be reaching out to Ford and my dealership to see what they say about mine also. Thanks and good luck!

It’s luck of the draw, I had a build week of 4/25 and took delivery 5/27 in S Florida. Others from my build week just got theirs last week, some due to the embargo others I would assume were due to chip holds.

Fwiw, I was in 1/24 build week, was put on chip hold with an eta that got pushed back 3 months. A few weeks later the hold went away and got shipped. Others that week have just recently landed at dealership. Hoping you luck out and the chip hold is removed quickly for you, but i don’t expect you to get any reliable info until it ships. I’m hoping you don’t need a car and can make due for the time being. Otherwise, not sure why you would have sold prematurely. Nothing about the process has been predictable or consistent.

Sounds like when your dealer told you it was "built" he meant it was "in production". Mine started production july 2021, was built, but awaited its MIC top until finally delivery in October 2021. I think Ford wants to give tou the vehicle as much as you want it, but Chips are scarce. Just hope there's no war with China over Taiwan, or you'll be waiting 2 more years. In your position, I told friends I'll get it by Thanksgiving or maybe Christmas. It was worth the wait.

Yeah, I may take the reason with a grain of salt. It is possible that it is a chip hold but literally the first I have heard of new holds because of chips. Surprising especially coming out of shutdown and the fact that it is a BB. I wish you the best of luck in getting your rig but I think if there were thousands of Bronco in a new chip hold we may hear more about it.

Mine shows "in production". However, my dealer/Ford chat has been giving me an ETA for the vehicle arriving at the dealership for the past month, which is why I'm so shocked that there is now a chip hold

Just talked to Ford chat again today. One of the most frustrating parts of this entire experience.

"Your vehicle is showing as 'In Production' and has been produced. It shows a micro chip hold code and there is no ETA"

If they couldn't procure enough steering wheels, would they call that "produced"?
