Thanks everyone.

I’ve decided to do full wrap and going with a local guy that is XPEL certified but now installs Sun Tek instead. I got to see the work he does, and it’s so good. He said he now uses Sun Tek because getting warranty from XPEL is difficult (and encouraged me to read their actual warranty language).

Really, I’m choosing it more about the installer. Having XPEL HQ local is appealing, but they wanted to install the PPF over the decal and I just didn’t get a great vibe from the shop (like my questions were bothering them). The Sun Tek installer is going to do the 60th anniversary decal stripe over the PPF and spent a lot of time answering my questions. Seeing some other Broncos he had done and how he does paint correction/repair himself sealed the deal.

It’s going in 4/13. I’ll post some updates when it’s done. I appreciate everyone’s responses and insight. Thanks!

I went over my graphics, but I also had it done by an extremely good PPF installer.

I had xpel on the previous Bronco just on the lower rockers. It got dirt underneath by the textured paint and ended up with air bubbles, it looked bad. Also seen it over graphics, and it looks bad. Good choice to do graphics over the PPF.

Would you mind sharing how much this is going to cost?

Update: I drop off for my PPF install Monday. He hasn’t been able to source the OEM 60th decal stripes or any exact match aftermarket ones, so right now we are reluctantly thinking the PPF is going over the decal stripes. I’ve seen his work and it’s impeccable, but I still got to the point that I didn’t want the PPF over them. Anyone have a source to get the 60th OEM decal stripes?

@Blue Max, you asked about the cost… It’s setting me back $7,500 for full coverage SunTek Reaction PPF and then ceramic coating. I’m having everything covered, roof included.

I used to install Xpel at a shop down here in Orlando, I’ve had it on my Bronco for just over 5 years now without any issues. I did a few Broncos, they are fairly simple just time consuming. The install should be able to apply the PPF over the decal and push out any air or even cut it around the decal after it’s dry. As for Xpel, they have great film and stand by their product, but they do want clients to use their own cleaning products on their films which they will say will void warranty when other products are used. We never had anyone return for issues with film unless it was physical damage that they caused. Most of the big brands in PPF are solid and some people form opinions based on whether they can get the products. Any good shop will give you care instructions after the install, good luck and remember it’s a sacrificial layer. 🤘🏻

UPDATE. We couldn’t get replacement OEM 60th decals, so the PPF is going over them, but it’s going well. PPF install should be finished Monday and then it’s getting ceramic treatment. I can’t wait!

Including grill, lights, all painted surfaces. He even made templates for the painted hinges on the swing gate and is covering the hard surface of the spare tire cover.
