Thanks for being my Guinea pig. You solved that dilemma for me.

If milliseconds count, it should be in a holster on your person, in the same spacial relation to your draw hand all of the time.Just so everyone knows, the stock console opening measures a generous 7”w X 8”deep. This safe reduces that to a 4 1/2” X 5” knuckle bleeding booby trap.! Qwikdraw McGraw would have trouble pulling even my Keltec 380 and certainly not a 1911 out of this tiny orifice when milliseconds count.! I even discovered a 12 volt power point in there after removing the safe.!
No. It's hollow under the top plate.!Looks like they wasted an awful lot of space. Is all of that thick surround padding?
How does it mount? No. It's hollow under the top plate.!
Agreed. 100%.If milliseconds count, it should be in a holster on your person, in the same spacial relation to your draw hand all of the time.
A separate safe is for when it needs to be secured *away* from your direct control, and you are in a position where you accept it is not available for immediate access.
This is pretty apropos... since I was just contemplating my setup... which is in many ways both more and significantly less convenient than the console safe:Agreed. 100%.
While the opening of the Bronco's console vault is small, the space inside is large enough to hold my Glock G17 Gen5 with the large, beavertail backstrap. This is not a small sidearm. It is a full-sized, 17-round, 9mm, polymer frame handgun. I just have to twist my hand a little when inserting and removing it.
Not for fast draw, obviously.
Your kit box carries a little more gear than my rear cargo vault. This is pretty apropos... since I was just contemplating my setup... which is in many ways both more and significantly less convenient than the console safe:
Thank you for posting this info. If your G17 fits my G43 will with room to spare!Agreed. 100%.

I have a Vline Simplex gun safe under my driver's seat... Holds any of my EDC firearms.Correct, but those of us with MGV dont have to worry about those power seats.
