My Bronco came in with the windshield cracked. I have been waiting for the replacement for about two weeks. I bought the hood deflector and installed it last week. I'm sure the Bronco windshield will be like my Jeep's windshield. It needed to be replaced once a year. The last time I had the Jeep's windshield replaced, there was a combination of 7 cracks, chips, and stars on it. For some reason all the damage was only on the passenger side. The Jeep TJ windshield was less than $200. The Bronco windshield is $1000. Make sure to get glass breakage on your insurance policy with a low deductible.

Yes, having previously owned a Jeep Rubicon, I am accustomed to rock damaged windshields.
I am wondering if some built in stresses are causing some premature cracks.
Otherwise, why would it be corrected in the new Raptor version?
Well, if you buy his story,...He's got a raptor he wants to sell you! Ok maybe in a few years. Lol.

The more vertical the windshield the more damage it takes from rock hits, can't fight physics.

Reviving an old thread. Had a windshield issue yesterday that cracked clear across the glass right in my line vision. It was 27F and freezing rain and snow. 15 minutes into my drive with my defrost on max I heard a loud snap and an instant 4 foot crack. I had a couple of chips but the crack didn’t originate from those and it appears to be just one layer of the laminated glass cracked.

Anyone know when the glass (specifically the windshield) is put in the body section? Is it before the body is mounted to the frame or after?

Last Sunday the wife and I found ourselves at lunch near our Ford dealership so we decided to swing by to see if they had any Broncos we could lust over.
Sure enough, a new Badlands mannequin was parked out front. It looked pretty good but did have a horizontal crack in the windshield all the way across near the bottom. No big deal, probably from shipping, right?
So today I’m watching a YouTube Black Diamond owner review and he casually mentions having to replace his windshield twice in 6 months because of a problem caused by the mounting frame. The windshield is cracked again, horizontally and low near bottom. He says the problem has been fixed in the new Raptors.
Just wondering if you guys have encountered this problem?
Pretty sure windshields on every vehicle are not contained inside a frame. Nothing can stress the glass as it's placed onto the frame with goo.
I've got the exact crack size and location at 1300km, but due to starting from where a rock hit, and me not getting the chip filled.

Mine is cracked today. Single 6 inch line from Top left of windshield, driver's side and headed into my field of view (not quite there yet). Did not originate at a chip. Truck was parked for one night outside last week during the recent cold (-20). Yesterday was 63 degrees so decided to wash it and get all the road salt off of it. Did not notice the crack while I was washing or driving it and I am pretty meticulous, so pretty sure it was not there. Parked it in the garage. This afternoon, pull it out of the garage, start down the driveway and notice the crack for the first time. Weird.

It just happened to me. I was driving on an expressway, heard a loud snapping noise (not like a rock hit ) than there was a horizontal crack pretty much centered that starts about five inches from each edge about six inches up than curves and goes to the bottom. Absolutely no sign of impact of anything. I had 3200 miles on it.

I was very careful trying not to get rock chips but it was all in vain. Every chip has been from a vehicle passing me. And then in the recent cold snap it cracked all the way across with a loud “snap”.
Not going to replace it any time too soon. Just going to accept it and drive it cause it’s just going to happen again.

Hey there! It's unfortunate to hear about the crack in the windshield of the new Badlands model you saw. While it's possible the crack was from shipping, it's important to consider other factors that could be causing this issue. As for the YouTube Black Diamond owner's review, it's definitely concerning to hear that they had to replace their windshield twice in just six months. It's possible that the mounting frame is causing these cracks, and it's good to know that the problem has been fixed in the new Raptors. If you're dealing with a cracked windshield in Colorado, be sure to check out https://achickandawindshield.com/ for reliable and professional windshield replacement services.
