DD Hitchpod SSC1 Kit installed

Where you can also hook it up to an aux switch and have it "always on" / override the back light and reverse light? Where I'm going with this is......can you add a yellow cover and also use it as a chase light by flipping an aux switch? Can a yellow cover physically be added, or does the hitch itself prevent the light from clipping on a cover?

Does the bronco acknowledge a connected trailer?

It does acknowledge it and turns of blind spot monitoring which is a bummer. I did contact DD and they have a fix and an alternate harness to address the issue.

No this has nothing to do with that setup. It connects to your trailer harness.

Diode states you can use covers with the C1R but im not sure about the Hitchpod, most likely you can since it sticks out a bit.

But no you would not use this as a chase light.

Got the HitchPod a couple days back. The rig required a few hours to thaw before I could access the 7 Pin wiring harness. Nevertheless, it fit, and works as expected! A 10MM to remove the 7/4 Connector, pull the closest factory retaining xmastree plug/ziptie thing out, and add the inline harness. Zip tie it all up as you'd like.

For $100, its a great lil mod that is all benefit with a decent amount of output (~1000Lumens). The flood pattern is nice and soft; it doesn't overwhelm the backup camera

Ill take some night shots and update soon.

Still waiting for a response from DD tho on the CR1. I guess they were having some issues with early ones --- not as bright as claimed.

We are looking into this matter now, and we hope to provide more information soon. While the C1R uses a completely different emitter than the C1, due to the combined high-power red and white, we are trying to determine why those values are so different.

For an immediate solution, please feel free to contact us if you'd like to swap to a C1. Otherwise, please be assured that we do stand behind our products and we will provide a resolution so the C1R owners get the power that they expected. More information to come very soon. @4x4TruckLEDs.com Thanks for the Resistor Clipping Mod. Got a bit of shop time in today and that method worked as explained. Now the light functions perfectly as expected

if you received a C1 hitchpod and it didn't ship from us THIS WEEK then you need to make a fix on your hitchpod. ALL hitchpods sold by us as of THIS WEEK and ALL C1R hitchpods sold from us (ever) work properly.

BUT C1 hitchpods that you got LAST week or earlier need to make the following fix:

1) Remove the black tape on the trailer harness
2) There are 2 resistors. One resistor goes from BLACK to YELLOW and the 2nd resistor goes from BLACK to WHITE. Look for these
3) CUT the resistor wire (it's the exposed metal wire). I recommend cutting it FLUSH with the resistor/wire.
4) Re-tape your harness

That's it.

Basically Diode Dynamics installed 2 resistors on the harness which don't work on Ford vehicles, as the Ford trucks think a trailer is connected and will disable your cross-traffic alert system.

If you don't do this the Hitch Pod WILL still work, but your cross-traffic alert system will get disabled. So simply cut those 2 resistors and it'll fix the issue.

We tested this in-house AND Diode Dynamics tested this in-house also (they provided us the instructions to test on some additional Ford trucks like a Lightning).

Here is one of those resistors shown with the wire still sticking off (cut it flush)
