I've been thinking. That due to the very late and even possibility of more production postponements I will be loosing more than 9 months of depreciation. That could be 20% of value. So why not just call Broncos built 2022,s, saving us all ton of money in the resale market?

Resale value is not calculated in such a simple manner. Supply and demand weigh more heavily than model year or calendar year. Ford won't change it anyway, so not worth the worry.

They said new colors/options for 2022. If they change the '21s to '22s without adding additional stuff, everyone will lose their shit. By keeping the '21 label, even for 3 months, it allows Ford a little time to build with what they got initially.

Yeah, model year doesn't equate to an equalized over time formula. A 2021 Bronco will always be more valuable than a 2022 to certain people. If Ford made them all 2022 models I'd cancel my order.

This. It isn't like the model year is some magical binding demon contract. If it was, they could just name it a model year 2371 and guarantee the best resell rates for the next 350 years.

As there is a shortened year, the 2021's will depreciate compared to the '22 MY less than if they were was a full year of production. The people buying the used ones will factor in that the average age isn't half a year, but a quarter year old, so lower depreciation. It all works out in the end. If there are no appreciable differences between the '21 and '22MY's, a price increase for the later model year might drag the '21 up in resale value. No way to tell in advance other than you are going to lose a chunk of value as soon as you leave the dealers parking lot.
