I love it. I use the drawers to hold bungees, tow strap, clevis, and misc. tie down stuff. The platform is useful for loading/carrying and its great to just flip it back to deploy the rear seats to haul people. its about 4-5” total height but the useable drawers are about 3 1/2” deep.
Have you made your own thread with your buildout? I am very curious to see the final result with the drawers and all. Maybe some closeups of the hardware, dimensions would be amazing. I would like to do something just like your setup, mainly to level out the back cargo area and utilize the void for drawers/storage. Nice that you can also flip it up to access the hidden storage compartment.

Update— just realized yours is a two door, so no need for dimensions, but additional photos would be much appreciated. Maybe a material breakdown if you recall.

I made a first try at my filler panel. Drawers are next but the idea is to have a flat area when the seats are back. Put the seats down, flip the platform forward and viola…nice flat carpeted space.

Hey there LHD. This is beautiful! Can you tell we what kind of hinge you ended up using? I'm not seeing any that will fold flat both ways.

Never mind, my question is moot. The piece that covers the seats is longer than the back piece! 🤓 @LHD Still have to sand & cover, but here’s mine. Thanks for the inspiration!

I made that front piece short enough to double up when folded back. I used two small hinges. Tried a piano hinge but it wouldn’t take the thickness of the carpet when folded.

@palley6 ... I'm curious what you mean when you said you "milled" the 2x4's? I've never done any kind of wordworking since wood shop in high school (35 years ago LOL), and my understanding of a 'mill' from what I remember, is something that would shave thickness off the 2x4, is that correct?

I saw Justin McBride build his platform and honestly it made so much sense I had to copy him and do one for myself. This completely eliminates the hump between the cargo floor/backseat while introducing storage hidden underneath. My plan is to solo camp for a week or two at a time and this is the perfect easy DIY solution that anyone can knock out over a weekend.

Materials needed:

(2) 2' x 4' x 1/2" plywood, or (1) 4' x 4' x 1/2
(2) rolls of trailer bunk carpet -- Its almost the exact amount I needed so 3 rolls if you're concerned https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KOTTK...abc_NQW774CAJTCF26SEDWHS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
(1) 2x4x8 board - ended up milling my own but dimensionally each base support measured 29" long.
(1) spray adhesive, 3m worked great for me

If anyone wants the dimensions completed let me know, it was a back and forth between the Bronco and tablesaw but it fits perfectly now.

*disregard the patch job on the left support leg. Ran out of bunk material at the very last piece of endgrain lol
Looks great! And simple enough. Did you ever happen to post the final dimensions for everything?
