We've had our 4-door for only a few weeks and I can see the paint taking a beating on the door thresholds where we step in. I'm wondering what I should do to protect that area. Seems like 3m clear adhesive tape might do the trick, but I was hoping something more substantial that I can install there.

Well for starters, practice getting in properly and don't step there.

I had mine PPF'd for my friends who can't figure it out. I'm not a fan of the look but Ford sells some stick on sill guards you could try

Also, Stickerfab makes some similar ones. Both are heavy duty material, and wrap over the crease…

Won't wrapping over affect sealing of door at bottom?

Nope. The material is about as thick as a playing card. Here’s a shot of what it looks like after use…

You want it to wrap over, because that’s where everyone’s feet will drag across the paint.

I had some leftover Xpel from a DIY project and just cut it to the sizes I thought I needed. It's not rocket science putting it on, especially considering you are mainly just looking for protection. I think @Underground Graphics sells a nice kit that I'd probably consider getting if I didn't already have some on hand.

I have not in my recollection ever placed my feet there, although maybe subconsciously

you are not supposed to step there. Get yourself some steps or running boards.

Amazing advice. I wish I had thought of that.

Personally, I love your suggestion, but my wife's dog doesn't quite get it. So maybe both of you can provide her more details and it'll sink in.
