tl;dr. Y’all throwin a bunch of mud and water into your broncos with the doors off?

Okay. So. Guessing that we’ve all pretty much had a wrangler at some point, and we’ve all thrown it through a mud pit with the doors off at some point, I have a question about the bronco.

With the wranglers, the door sill is basically even with the body. Take the doors off, and there’s no open gap, it’s just a flush hole right? So I would end up just throwin a little mud onto the vertical section of the roll bar behind the front seat.

my question with the bronco is this. Since the door itself leaves a hole that is more scoop shaped rather than a flush cutout, are we seeing more mud and water being thrown into the interior???

I really don’t want mud flaps cuz imo, lame looking. But at the same time just from the looks of the pictures people are posting, there’s potential for all the crap to be thrown into the absence of the doors curve rather than the flat opening of the wrangler.

This is mine after driving through wet sand on the beach. Keep in mind, I was only going about 10-15 mph. Flings onto the rear passengers more than the front. I’m sure if I was going faster it would get more inside.

I can’t believe these didn’t come with mud flaps, tbh.

Awaiting a non-hack, non-$$$$ rock-rail-compatible ones…

Oh it's gonna be nasty. Hard to clean out. And fun the entire time you are getting it dirty. Not so much afterwards.
The Jeeps have that awesome overhang inside the door, along the rocker panel, that is difficult to get all of it out of. Especially with the wiring loom there to trap even more grit and mud in hard-to-reach places.

The Broncos have more traditional door jambs and the hinges that stay on the body, so all of those crevices are going to be a fun time. Seat handles, brackets, joints in the plastics. All of that is going to require probably some patience and an old toothbrush and paintbrush to get clean again.

Haven't had the opportunity yet, as took possession of mine here in the winter.
But come spring and summer, the doors will be off pretty much the whole time.
And I can find out firsthand how bad it will be vs. my assumption of how bad.

Just looking at the way the spray ends up on the doors and seeing the pic above with the sand (beautiful pic, BTW), it's gonna be a mess.
But again, fun the whole time you are making it.
MGV and washout floor for the win.

Another reason why muds sux. Hard on your mechanicals and yes cleaning out the interior is not going to be fun. I feel for folks that live in areas where mud is the only thing going off road.
