Everglades Owners: Replaced your windshield yet???

Added an Everglades snorkel to my WildTrak. Took it into Safelite to have the windshield replaced and they refused to touch it because the snorkel overlaps the glass a little. Told me somebody will have to remove the snorkel first since they don’t do that sort of work.

So this weekend I took the snorkel off but even the A pillar bracket extends over the glass a little. I’m going to send a pic to them on Monday to see if they think that is still a no-go. Man I hope it’s not a problem because that bracket is glued on. Hate to have to scrape it off and reattach it.

So can somebody who drives an Everglades tell me if you’ve ever had to replace your glass yet? I’m wondering if maybe when I installed my snorkel I got the alignment “just a little wrong”. Everything does line up perfectly but maybe the guys on the Ford assembly line know that you have to push it away from the glass a little to allow for future windshield replacement and I didn’t do that.

There is a slight overlap as well from the factory, I’ll get a picture of mine and post it here as well.

Well that’s good news bad news.

Glad to know I didn’t screw it up.

But if removing the snorkel truly is required for glass replacement - then that is clearly bad news to ALL Everglades owners out there. Especially if glass shops are unwilling to remove it.

Means a 3 step process to replace your windshield:

1. take to mechanic to remove snorkel
2. take to glass shop to replace glass
3. return to mechanic to reinstall snorkel

Ouch. Future Everglades buyers might want to consider this.

I added the bug/wind deflector. This helped tremendously on my previous Bronco and hoping it helps again or at least continues to mitigate the risk.

It was one step for me. I took it to the dealership and they replaced the windshield on my wife's Everglade in one visit, in about 4 hours.

Can a Ford tech or somebody with a service manual for the Everglades give us an "expert" ruling on this?

Does the service manual call for removing the snorkel in order to replace an Everglades windshield?

If so, does it call for removing the A-pillar mounting bracket as well? If so, what about the double sided tape that glues this bracket in place? Is that available as a separate part number? (obviously, you can't reuse it)

Snorkel comes off super easy! Have already replaced the windshield. I also had a Defender with a snorkel that was the actual nightmare you're envisioning.

Yes I know. I installed it.

So I’m guessing you did NOT have to remove the A-pillar bracket to replace the windshield? Because it also protrudes over the edge of the glass. Just not the whole height of the glass top-to-bottom like the snorkel itself does.

There are no specific instructions per model.

The only thing the workshop manual says is:

“NOTE: Some interior trim, exterior trim and/or components may require removal based on the tools and removal method used.”
