So I have been reading some of these posts. Is this a real thing? Never heard of this before. I thought our 2.7 sounds pretty good for a 6 cyl. Disappointing that its a fake sound. Is it truly fake?

Fake on the inside. As real as it gets on the outside.

I don't buy it. But also, who cares if it's true. If you like the sound when you're in the vehicle, great. Why care whether people outside the vehicle hear it? When I put together exhaust systems on old cars and trucks, I design it for my ears, not other peoples'. I don't really understand why people are down on the fake exhaust noises -- exhaust sounds are truly just "noise" to other drivers.

Yes, it's a thing. Ford has been doing this for years.

I've had our 2.7l for a week now and I can't figure out what's fake and what isn't. It does sound fluttery at startup but any acceleration over like 1500rpm starts to pump in V8 rumble I think???

I can’t decide which I find more blingy, fake, narcissistic, shallow, and juvenile - the non functional hood scoop or these fake engine noises. I’d rather my vehicle come with a permanent two dollar crack whore in the passenger seat then either of these ridiculous “enhancements“.

I’m just trying to help your understanding

Yeah, I don't need it. Just like I've never done a crack whore, lol. My only point is, those fake noises are better than hearing real ones driving by your house. If exhaust noise does it for somebody, better that it's fake.

When I want to hear my exhaust, I put on an exhaust system that enhances the sound to my liking. I want my speakers to be used for listening to music and not be overridden by amplified exhaust sound. I am glad there is a way to shut the amplified exhaust sound off.

If someone likes it for themselves, that is their choice.

That is a good point. When I was young with my first car (1980's), if you ran a 'cherry bomb' muffler or straight pipes you regularly got a ticket, or were impounded. I think it was in the 1990's when all the judges, lawyers, and other respectable upper-middle class people (the folks who actually run local government) started acquiring Harley's (and its attendant "straight pipes save lives" culture) that vehicle noise laws became widely ignored. Now many vehicles come from the factory muffler by-pass that far exceeds local noise ordinances.

I have also noticed how the big car zines and online video reviews (such as "Sarah'n'tuned") emphasize the sound a vehical makes, seemingly over actual vehical performance. Just yesterday I was watching Sarah'n'tuned' (who is not a two-dollar-whore that's fer sur :p )review a 2024 F150 Tremor & a 2025 Explorer ST. In both she was real excited about how both cars sounded under throttle yet did not know (and/or care) that what she was hearing was fake. It's not like she is mechanically ignorant...

At this point I will resist a rant about authenticity, young(er) people accepting the artificial over the real, and the collapse of western civilization :ROFLMAO:

I completely agree. However we only own a percentage of the Bronco. They are part owners. Ford reserves the right to constantly modify your purchase as long as it can be done remotely. Sounds are one of them.

These are small displacement high strung turbo engines. They don't sound good. They sound like what they are. Fine little engines. Fake engines noises, no matter on small engine gas car or an EV are lame. Look at how stupid the ev calangers sound. What a joke.

LOL yep, it's a thing. Just bought my wife a new IS 350 F-Sport and it even has a small dial on the lower left hand dash that adjusts the volume of it lol.
