When I spoke to brewster ford, they said they could install it for me on the FE, and it would be much cheaper too, like $800. Ill find out for sure when i place the order.
It's $595 on the B&P, how is that "much cheaper"?

Maybe it's to install a Class III hitch but with the optional Class II hitch the max towing load is 3500 pounds which is what the max towing of the Bronco is. Would getting an aftermarket Class III hitch void the warranty? I personally am undecided about getting one. I don't have anything to tow and don't plan on getting anything to utilize that option. I would only get it to attach a bicycle rack which I do have one of those. Lol

Max tongue weight on that Class II is 350lbs, so if you don't plan to exceed that then it's likely not worth it to eff around with an aftermarket reciever you don't need. Although paying $600 just to be able to mount a bike rack is a little silly.

Correct. If the BL GCWR is 8840 and my little offroad trailer weighs 3400lbs and going off of base curb weight range Ford provides (which is w/ a full tank of fuel but does not include passengers or cargo), I figure the 4dr BL w/ the options I selected will come in around 5300lbs, leaving me with 140lbs. Looks like my 2 dogs will be taking the Bronco leaving my wife and I to follow them in my f150:unsure:
I thought dogs only drive Subarus.

You can order a DIO part off the parts guide I believe. There will also be aftermarket options. It will be more difficult than having it built-in from the factory but if you need it you'll be able to get it in the end.

The 4 door FE still has 3440 towing capacity. Its just that you can't load a ton in the vehicle AND max out the trailer.

There are going to be a lot of people with Broncos that added a bunch of factory options surprised when they see their GVWR sticker when it comes to towing.

The 4 door FE is only marginally less capable than any other bronco at towing. Basically just enough so they didn't want to put the hitch as a factory option.

gross weight was too much apparently, between the standard hard top, bull bar, sasquatch, sound deadening headliner, it tipped it over the top apparently.

yes, that raises some pretty good questions, but it is what it is. If you want a tow package, buy the badlands, which can equip all the same things, plus the tow package. (originally you could not get the sound deadening with the tow package and 2.7L on the badlands, but now you can, go figure)
An FE without any options has about 924lbs remaining between curb weight and GVWR, so plenty of room for a tow package and 350lbs of hitch weight. GVWR should not be a factor. If it is though, I'd really like to see them give an actually good explanation why.
