Ford is apparently dropping the ball big time regarding aftermarket accessory makers.

I have been informed by somebody in the know that its partly "political" meaning ford wants to pick and choose some winners who get first out the gate.

However i know for a fact that as of last week both goose gear and KC hilites have yet to even touch a bronco much less measure them. Im sure its like this for many major and small accessory makers. which , frankly , considering they are running off roadeo and could invite accessory makers out there to get measurements and other things , is hella lazy

However if we kick up a stink about this maybe we can get ford to send a bronco or 2 out to the major guys who will make the bronco more appealing to people who want a custom experience.

Ford has much bigger things to worry about than keeping the aftermarket happy. Ford makes 0 dollars from the aftermarket. Ford makes money when it delivers vehicles to customers. The play here is that customers should be able to work out some free upgrades by lending their vehicle to the aftermarket manufacturers.

There have been measuring sessions for SEMA members. There are also full up CAD models available to SEMA members for development .
Both of these companies are SEMA members.

Wrong. A more modular vehicle is a more popular vehicle. The more accessories you can buy for a car the more likely a off road enthusiast will buy one.

LOL,

the whole concept to this vehicle is aftermarket, why would Ford not make as much and do deals that benefit them? Some times I wonder if folks just do not understand what it takes to run a business, especially a huge business..

This proves my theory that people really think they can complain their way to success.. WOW. No matter how much folks complain it won't make hardtops faster or better..it won't produce chips faster...most of these reasons we are in this shape that nobody is "complaining about" is we outsource everything from this country for max profits and take advantage of cheap cheap almost slave labor. Why not call out the correct issue?? Nope we will just complain to designers about why their Bronco is not built.. America. This is where we are at.. don't like it? Call it out for what it is!!! Put your eggs in the correct basket. Food for thought!

Long term, you bet. Immediately, Ford can't fill customer orders. Why would they worry about mules for the aftermarket?

Ford offered partnerships to the aftermarket with terms that Ford laid out. Some took them up on it and some did not see the value (Ford wanted a piece of the action) those that signed on hot early access.

Vendors can now buy their own, incentivize a new owner to share their vehicle for a few days or possibly measure at an event.

I know for a fact that there was a lot of late night measuring going on in Moab.

you dont seem to understand that sending out 10 broncos that ford has laying around somewhere , or simply inviting these companies to get measurements at an off rodeo really doesnt put a dent in fords ability to deliver vehicles

I don't know about Ford's intentions but a customer/large distributor of accessories, who ordered a Bronco, will have a team of engineers fly in to take measurements once his arrives. We aren't talking about a small time suppliers either. Was very shocked to hear Ford had not made pre-pro units available to industry.

Agree wholeheartedly that Ford needs to meet aftermarket demand. Which is why, as @Evolkidbell stated, Ford handed the car over to SEMA - allowing SEMA members access to measure as well as provided CAD models to SEMA members.

KC highlights and GooseGear (SEMA members) have more than enough to produce their accessories, they probably don't have a vehicle yet because there's only so many vehicles to go around.

Your missing the fact that Ford has a licensed accessory product program in place. Sold through their dealer network. It costs the vendors a good bit to be in the program. Of course Rigid gets first dibs when they are a licensed vendor and paid to be so. Bronco will be around a long time and the aftermarket will catch up.

If you want to compete against the Wrangler, you have to have the ecosystem of the Wrangler. Especially since many of the people coming over from the Wrangler will look to Wrangler aftermarket brands first - not F150 aftermarket brands.

Ford needs to get as many as they can to SEMA with prototype components at least.

My black FE interior is an excellent example of using our collective voice to push for a change.
