I really don't understand the hate. This feature would allow me to Safari hunt hogs while responsibly using Adaptive Cruise to keep pace, blast a/c on my midsection bits, and rifles ready to go at the same time. This is definitely a Texas Edition Bronco!

Nope...I bet that's probably the most sensible part of it...Bronco already has crank in gear, so anytime you come to a full stop it just kills, and when you go again it uses crank in gear. Realistically that's the only safe way to do it...force 4L and I would recommend they come up w/a way to lock the trans in C or 1st so if somebody accidentally falls on the shifter etc, it won't go into N and roll. I mean it sounds nuts, but it's doable...like driving a scissor lift!

I've stood in my manual. I was in 4 low C at 1.5 mph... still felt stupid.

Looks like most people don't understand corporate patent strategy. ANY new, novel, iterative, or otherwise learned art that a company can patent they will. Larger corporations even moreso. There is usually no link between whether the idea ever sees anything more than the patent office or is actually put into an R&D mode much less production. It's just to own the technology should it ever become important or successful. And make $$$. There are many, many more patents filed that never see the light of day vs. those that are used.

As for this one? Meh. If you were crawling or near an obstacle and wanted a good view and used remote steering while standing up... maybe? I would vote for a remote control before this that would allow me to get out of the vehicle and control it in a creep mode. Regardless, I would bet hard money this patent is never built.
