It’s In the install process. In my mind it should not make a difference but in this case following the install instructions might be worthwhile. And since I am not a Ford software engineer and do not have access to the code I can’t give you the bottom line details. Sorry For that.
if you can do a favor and post the installation instructions in this thread that would be great.
Thinking out loud, mechanically it’s not a problem the issues come up with the programming side Like SHURDBA is experiencing. The computer code for the vehicle is quite complicated and it must be pretty difficult for Ford to keep track of the status of every vehicle that has been changed from original/as delivered and as updated by Ford updates for every Ford vehicle. It’s one of the reasons that I stay away from Forscan (Russian hack program) Or aftermarket performance tunes.
I hear you. I have no problem dealing with nuts and bolts or mechanical issues, but the Procal challenges are probably beyond my patience and capabilities to resolve should I run into issues. I too would like to find "sure fire installation" instructions, but I have yet to find it. Seems almost random that install goes smoothly for some and turns into a computer flash nightmare for others. I have a '22 WT, I'm hoping that is a helping factor since they were going to roll the HD rack into production shortly after mine was built.

If ProCal craps out (and it’s a crappy delivery system, so it does so often) - there are only three ways forward really:

Return for refund.

Call Ford Performance - they have to have an engineer remote in and fix it.

Use the BigMeatsBronco VIN hack method with FDRS.

*optional 4th*
Pay someone else to flash your rack - does not have to be installed

I know BroncBuster is not the most popular in the Bronco world… but all the difficulties of getting the HD rack to work makes the preprogrammed rack offered by Broncbuster worth it IMHO.

Shoot, I am not sure, It seems to me if the new rack is NOT working from a programming standpoint that the vehicle is stuck in original configuration, so in that case yes they need to start again with the proper process. Hard to tell/understand without knowing what the tech did and where the vehicle is now. Have they tried putting the original rack back in and if so does everything work properly? If so maybe its time for a different dealer that has better experience with this. you have been a guinea pig long enough. By the way, I would think that they should be able to read vehicle config with their FDRS system.... FORD Performance TECH line is 800-367-3778
Yes, I've been on the phone to that number for 3 weeks. But today I got a new wrinkle.

I got connected through the Ford customer service line to Ford Performance and got another rep. And he said: The problem you're having is that all the engineers are out for Christmas because they will loose their sick days if they don't take the time off. He was familiar with my case and said there was another half dozen steering racks across the Country waiting to be worked on. He said the process was for a FP engineer to remotely log into the dealer tech's laptop and push some files through and make it work. Which is what we all figured needed to be done. He spent some time with me and strongly suggested I give it another 10 days to resolve before going for a refund. He also said, yes the 22 model wildtraks were a little lengthier process but they do them all the time. When I queried him on why the FP rep I have been calling for three weeks didn't mention that there was no engineer available to work on my install, he put together a reasonable explanation of age and temperament of my rep I have been working with. This is far from over, but I think I'll give it another couple of weeks. I'm planning on Sand Hollow for the end of February, so I have a little time and I'm not crazy about the Bronco Buster alternative.

This all started when I put on the Icon tie rods. If I had to do it over, I might just leave the original tie rods on and carry plenty of spares.

I guess until ford gets it figured out, my ORIGINAL thread has the instructions to do the hoss 3.0/FP rack on ANY bronco...So sad to see Fords lack of responsibility here. Doug @Administrator should definitely make my RACK HACK thread a sticky...(at least untill ford has a REAL fix)....It would save ALOT of heartache for people, and quit causing issues for customers, Techs, and fords reputation. FORD should literally hire me to fix this shit for good.🤣

OR maybe I should drive down to Portland with my rack and a case of Manny's or maybe a Deschutes product! :)

Hey I work in Marysville/Arlington areas often...let me know.
I'm down in Kent (almost Auburn), south of Seattle. But I'm not sure I'm worthy of THE Big Meats Bronco! :) Maybe DM me if you're going to be up this way and I'll see if I can slap that thing in. I think I'll be OK on the mechanical end, it's the programming that I'm second guessing. A buddy has an old center post lift, but I might try it here at home on jack stands.

One question, do the factory boots have to come off the rack for install (w/o dropping the whole axle)? In videos, it seems people have them off for install. I'm concerned I won't get them sealed as well as OEM, and a leaking boot might be worse than no boot.

Any resolution yet?

I've been attempting to find a dealer in the San Diego area who can do the install, none seem to be able to do it. Closest I've found is north of LA, and I hate that drive especially when I'm told it takes two days to accomplish the installation, so I'd have to drive up and back twice.

@Neps, I didn't know I could get the rack up under the truck, swap the wiring from the stock rack, then attempt to program the HD rack. I thought I HAD to install the new rack completely first. So, when we get a little better weather here, I'll give programing a shot with my Procal, then in act plan B if that doesn't work out.

Ken Gordy in Carlsbad finally got it done after a month on the rack. Went that direction because of the discount through Ford Performance. See my final thoughts above.
