Interesting, didn’t know that could happen. Haven’t had any issues especially only at 21F, I am sure other members have had there Broncos in much colder conditions. All that gear and can’t take off a tie rod, very poor planning.

I’m gonna watch the video but I’ve had my rack out in 10 degree weather without issues. Lots of Broncos in MN I’ve talked to with -20 degree weather and no issues…

Why is everyone afraid to watch this video....lmao.

Its an interesting issue, yes it looks like Icon needs to employ a better boot!

My understanding is that this was a problem with his Icon tie rods the water getting in under the sleeve because there was no clamp holding it place. My OEM Hoss 3.0 has a clamp there and I imagine the other OEM tie rods do as well for that very reason.

I went and looked at my FabTech tie rods...they have metal clamps on the boot.

Something was wrong with his steering, but hard to believe it froze. A stiff tie rod at the rack would still allow movement. I have the same icon tie rods have treated me fine in similar weather. Maybe something else wrong.

Watched the video through… looks like his aftermarket boots allowed lots of slushy stuff in that got pulled into the rack by the steering screw and then froze overnight. Pretty believable and hammers in the importance of making sure your boots are sealed up!

Whoever installed his Icon Tie rods didn’t add the clamps to the outer boot. Icon includes all the needed clamps and clearly has them in their instructions. Who doesn’t know that boots need to be clamped on both ends?

You can't blame the Icon boots, someone failed to put the tie rod side boot clamps on. Water freezes, water in the rack will freeze. Self inflicted.
I just looked at this exact aftermarket part on Jeff's bronco graveyard. The picture shows the boot with a clamp, hehe. I wouldn't say it's clickbait, but a silly goose move to be sure.
