We have a weathertech cargo liner and have never given a second thought to throwing anything in the back of the SUV. In fact it's nice bc you can just pull out the liner and hose it off. Granted you can hose out a truck bed, I'm just pointing out there are solutions out there for enclosed SUVs.
I have a truck and my wife has had numerous SUV's with cargo liners like you mentioned. It's not even the same ballpark in regards to throwing stuff in the back of a truck vs the back of an SUV. Mud gets in the back of the truck - sure you can wash it out, but you can also choose to do nothing and rain will eventually take care of it.

Huge difference between a bedlined truck bed and the interior of a SUV when it comes to durability and what you can just throw back there.

I'm willing to give it all up to try something new and if it doesn't work out, I'll be back in another truck.

I'm pretty sure it'll be at least as nice as my '73 was. That's my benchmark.

For us that used the Wrangler as a baseline I cant see a lot of disappointment.

I had a TJ(soft-top, 2dr, No A/C) It was the most fun ive had driving a car.
The only thing I want from my Bigbend 2dr is to be as fun as the TJ, while making it a bit easier to live with.

- More trunk space (you cant fit a standard cooler in a 2dr jeep)
- A/C
- Hard top for winter
- Better on road manners (TJ felt shaky at 60 MPH)

My TJ had 125 Horsepower...never felt slow or rather, I was never in a hurry lol.

In fairness it’s not often that you buy a car sight unseen. That is bound to lead to regret and frustration. I drove two hours to a dealer event to make sure it’s what I wanted as I’m sure many on this forum have. However, I only knew about the dealer event because of this forum, imagine all the people who have ordered going into this blind. Used market will likely be pretty good in a few years.
I agree. In fact I have never bought a vehicle sight unseen until the Bronco. Interestingly, I have intentionally chosen to not see it before hand. I was going to go to the TN event last week and decided against it. I had a reservation to see the Bronco at a dealer event and cancelled it. Why? I don't know, maybe I'm nuts but after reading all the comments from others, I am pretty confident it will be nice. I just want the exhilaration of seeing my Bronco when I go to pick it up. I've had more Fords than most and genuinely like their style and features, (except for lane assist). I sold my F150 because of the Bronco & wanted something a bit smaller and more off road capable.
So, one way or another, I will be in for a surprise. Just hoping it will be a good one. :)

I have absolutely no regrets over my upcoming order and I know what I am getting into. My first car, a 1970 Ford Bronco that I owned from 1974-1979 served me well and is the basis for my new Bronco order. My wife and I had a 1982 Jeep CJ-7 that she absolutely loved, but we sold it in 1985 to buy a Chev K5 Blazer as we were starting a family and needed the extra room. Fast forward to late 2019 when the announcement of the resurrection of the Ford Bronco to the marketplace came out, we had already been informally talking about buying a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4 Door at some point in the future and abruptly, we changed our focus to the upcoming Bronco. We still need room for 5 on occasion and cargo space for traveling. As much as I would have considered a 2 door base w/Sasquatch and nothing more in keeping with the original Bronco heritage of spartan options, it really came down to my wife's wants since this will be her daily driver and whether we spend $40,000 or $50,000+, the money wasn't the issue, but rather not regretting getting everything we want in this special order process. Ultimately, a loaded up Outer Banks w/o Sasquatch Pckg has been ordered (wife didn't like the wheels and felt it looked too rugged for her tastes with those extra large tires). We have sat in the front and back seat of the Bronco at one of the open house events and were more than satisfied with the comfort and space. Having rented and ridden in Wranglers in the past, along with our previous ownership experiences, we know what we were getting into with ride quality, space, and seat comfort (front and back). We have a Honda Pilot 4WD that we will keep as we will have the occasional need for its 3rd row seating capabilities and/or extra cargo space. We are just waiting patiently for the email on when our order turns into a build date.

I think I thought a lot of people would have buyer's remorse when the JK Wranglers came out with the 4 door option and soccer moms started buying them in droves. Turns out to be really popular. When I was up in WA, a friend of mine used to do "ride alongs" where new buyers could come up and explore the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. Some of them liked it out there and started to buy into the "lifestyle." That's good for off roaders in general.

I'm sure some people will regret they didn't get the Hyundai Santa Fe or the Palisade. That's what my wife wants. She'll look at the Bronco Sport next week when they have the Broncos here but I suspect her next car will be from her home country, which is okay. I want her to be happy, too!

As far as me, for the stuff i'm doing, loading up a bunch of gear and heading out to the West Desert for recreation, my Ram 1500 is really overkill and it doesn't get in around some of the tight spots I like to explore up into. I could do that in a Jeep, but growing up, the best wheeling was in Broncos, Trail Dusters and Ramchargers. Being a MOPAR guy, I'd have probably been all over a Trail Duster, but let's face it, Plymouth isn't a company anymore...

So, I'll throw a couple of guns in the back of the Bronco, a cooler, some sandwiches, and head to the wilderness, and that's going to be just perfect for me. About half the vehicles on the road here are some kind of rugged 4x4 or other anyway, so what's one more? It's definitely solving two of the problems with my pick up, which is wheelbase and departure angles.

It has been amazing to watch the number of people new to the forum who are attracted to the Bronco and are coming from all sorts of different cars and trucks, from sports cars to family SUVs. Great job to Ford for finding a way to win new market share and grow their customer base. Nevertheless, I predict this is what we will see in future forum posts.

Could do {fill in blank} so much better, I don't understand why Ford had to make the Bronco a competitor to the Wrangler, I need it to do {fill in blank}. My Bronco is now for sale and we will be buying a {fill in blank}.

In a very very similar boat to you and yours. My wife has always dreamt of a ragtop Wrangler but when I showed her the Bronco (after I had already reserved it), she liked the styling way more. We also ended up with a non-Squatch OBX model that will be her daily driver, replacing the Ford Escape.

Reminds me of the promise of a time share...

I never owned a jeep but I know plenty who do. I never liked the, let's say "loose" handling of the two doors and I don't want a four door.

Are my expectations grounded and the IFS will solve my one issue with living with a jeep? Am I building it up too much and I'll be disappointed because the two door storage will be just too damn small? Will I be pleasantly surprised?

All I know is after all this I'll go to my grave before I ever admit to my wife I made a mistake ordering...
Omg... my wife and I have been married over 30 years and I know as certain as death death and taxes if I ever said I made a mistake by buying this Bronco I would never hear the end until I died. And even after that she may haunt me in the afterlife. Why did you have to bring this up. Now I have to think about that too.😳

I live with more regrets of things I didn’t do that things I did do. Go for the Bronco! If it doesn’t fit you , sell it and move on. You won’t be wandering about “ what if” if you go that route . But if you don’t follow thru - you will regret it for years to come.

You are correct. The bed of a truck is different than the back of an suv.

I remember when I was MUCH younger (back in the 80's somewhere), I saw an advertisement in a magazine for a Ford Bronco. It had a Father and son sitting by a lake fishing and in the background was a Ford Bronco. Since that day, I've wanted one. Something iconic about that image has stuck with me for almost 40 years, By the time I was in a position to purchase one, they had stopped production.

To me, it said that the Bronco can be counted on to "take you there and back" safely. It is a vehicle that is safe for your family and can open up the possibility of new adventures. Now I know this is marketing at it's best and maybe a pipe dream but it's my pipe dream.

to quote Frank Sinatra..."regrets, I've had a few but then again, too few to mention"....one I will mention is never having bought one years ago so unless I drive this new one home and it falls apart in my driveway, I definitely WON'T regret purchasing it.

As far as we know, we only live once so I say make as many dreams as you can come true before your ticket gets punched. I know it's just a vehicle but think about how much time we spend in our vehicles...might as well be in one I've always wanted.
Too bad it's so small the other kid had to stay home in order to fit the fishing poles! :ROFLMAO:
