Y'all asked for it, so here is our offering for a solution to use the hardtop and the mesh at the same time! Will work for the 4 Door and 2 Door! 😉

NOTICE: This will require drilling into two of your hardtop twist locks.

Installation is very easy. Basically, you will remove the 2 centermost twist locks and install our stainless steel plate add-on. The mesh will have two grommet holes for an 8mm T-handle Allen wrench to pass through. You will use the Allen wrench as a "key" to twist the locks to open and close.

Your top warranty is most likely void now.

Kit contents:
  • Left stainless plate
  • RIght stainless plate
  • 2x M4 nut and bolt set
*Long 8MM t-handle wrench will be available separately, still sourcing them....

Installation:
Time 10mins

-Remove front panels

-Remove twist lock from the panel with your Bronco OEM tool kit.

-Please plate over the twist lock (clamp it in place) and drill two 4mm (3/16") holes through the holes in the plate

-Install provided M4 nut and bolt through the plate into the handle

-Reinstall the twist lock into the panel

Full instructions will be added to our site soon.

*Removal of the front center bungee and clips is necessary while the hardtop is on. When you remove the panels, reinstall the bungee and clips.

The remaining twist locks and latches will be accessible from the edge of the mesh.

This product will go live next week! Visit www.gearshade.com for updates.

If you already have a soft-top version, we will be making a kit to retrofit it. 😉

Cool solution. It’s on my mod list. All I need is the Bronco…

OK @StickerFab you can come up with something to give it a little style on the latch plates.
Actually, that's not a bad idea. @GearShade should team up with @StickerFab (you're both in Florida). Have an overlay sticker that mimics the MIC top handle and apply it to the plate.

In the event of a warranty claim, it likely won't be noticed that an actual modification was made to the handle.

Impressive solution.

I heard that there was a slight modification incoming for the mesh top instructions that simply moved two of the fasteners to different holes in the roll cage - and that this would allow you to leave all fasteners in place when installing the MIC top (obviously the mesh top itself would still need to be removed). Is that still the case? If so, when should the instructions be updated?

I am curious if the after market hardtops (ADV and Patriot) will have their front panel handles in the same place and if this will be compatible?

Yes, we moved 2 grommet holes forward. All top are now made like this. We will be updating everything this week.

@ADV Fiberglass meet @GearShade ... You two really should talk!

Really, there's not much point in having a full Gear Shade mesh top under the ADV top, since only the forward panel comes off the ADV. Maybe @GearShade can come up with a little mini-mesh section that works with the ADV forward panel…?
