Very clever and way more discrete than the zippers. With all the surfce area of this adaptor plate did you try any VHB double sided tape instead of having to drill into the handle? Just a thought or maybe a possible solution for anyone thsat doesn't want to drill into their handles. Then they could'nt say it voids anything. LOL.

JUST DID, does not work. The handle is made from 30% glass-filled nylon. Nylon is hard to get things to stick to it.

Ahhhh, thank you for trying. What about molding a slip on adaptor instead?? So it slids over the latch handle? Again, I'm just throwing ideas out there for you if some people do not want to drill into their handles.

Thought about that, but the force needed to turn the lock with the allen is a lot. Every test we did with plastic ended very badly. The allen would end up slipping the hole.

I have the same one. What are all the zippers for?
There’s a lot of use for the zippered pockets…

-bungee storage if not keeping your gearshade in full time.
-daughter keeps her spare hair tie in there.
-parking garage ticket storage
-sunglass holder if you have aux switches and no where to put your sunglasses.

It’s an extra compartment for little things that may fly off it you have your top/doors off.

Accessing the knobs for the hard top
No zippers to access the latches. The zippers are wth the front two corners for storage. All latches are accessible except the 2 center ones where there is a grommet and you will need an Allen to twist. Gearshade made a plate for those two latches so you can use an Allen key..

I think your referring to the GearShade Sun Shade and its pockets. I get those and they make sense. I like the product.

I was referring to the BestTop version that has giant zippers that dissect the entire top. Someone answered my question, they are for hardtop access.

My apologies. I missed the Bestop comment.

Y'all asked for it, so here is our offering for a solution to use the hardtop and the mesh at the same time! Will work for the 4 Door and 2 Door! 😉

NOTICE: This will require drilling into two of your hardtop twist locks.

Installation is very easy. Basically, you will remove the 2 centermost twist locks and install our stainless steel plate add-on. The mesh will have two grommet holes for an 8mm T-handle Allen wrench to pass through. You will use the Allen wrench as a "key" to twist the locks to open and close.

Your top warranty is most likely void now.

Kit contents:
  • Left stainless plate
  • RIght stainless plate
  • 2x M4 nut and bolt set
*Long 8MM t-handle wrench will be available separately, still sourcing them....

Installation:
Time 10mins

-Remove front panels

-Remove twist lock from the panel with your Bronco OEM tool kit.

-Please plate over the twist lock (clamp it in place) and drill two 4mm (3/16") holes through the holes in the plate

-Install provided M4 nut and bolt through the plate into the handle

-Reinstall the twist lock into the panel

Full instructions will be added to our site soon.

*Removal of the front center bungee and clips is necessary while the hardtop is on. When you remove the panels, reinstall the bungee and clips.

The remaining twist locks and latches will be accessible from the edge of the mesh.

If you already have a soft-top version, we will be making a kit to retrofit it. 😉
