I just picked up a beautiful new 2024 Bronco Heritage and absolutely love it. I live in Pennsylvania where we get ice and snow and the roads are salted regularly in the winter.

Ever since my first vehicle, a 1985 Ranger, I have had ALL new vehicles rustproofed by Ziebart. Accordingly, I've never experienced any frame or body rust through issues despite keeping some of the vehicles almost 20 years. I love being able to crawl under a 10 year old vehicle and see no underbody rust whatsoever, particularly on the accessory items like brake lines, brackets, etc.

Despite what the manufacturers claim, these vehicles RUST underneath. I've seen 5-10 year old Fords and Chev's and the undercarriages are rusty!!!

Ziebart wants $700 to undercoat/rustproof the new Bronco. Working from home now, I no longer have to drive in winter conditions very much anymore.

Curious how many have had their Broncos rustproofed?

I had mine done at the dealer shortly after purchase. The salt brine they use on the roads these days is brutal stuff...no brainer for me.

Nope. Manufactures have come a long way in corrosion protection despite your allegation. I have on 08 Tundra with no rust, and it is my daily driver in Ohio. I work on a lot of vehicles from various manufactures and rarely see a rusted undercarriage. None are rustproofed. Most consumer advocates advise to stay away from this type of service. It's costly and not necessary. If you choose to have it performed on your vehicle, read the contract carefully. You will probably find if there is a claim, the applicator has the option of fixing the rust or refunding your money. Worked at a dealership for years, it was a money maker. Never fixed any rust, just refunded the money. Good luck.

When I got my new Bronco, I got underneath and sprayed all of the steel parts (except for the exhaust parts) with Fluid Film.

I bit the bullet and had a local shop do the rust-proof and undercoat. After seeing all the 5 - 8 year old trucks and suv's in MN that have rust through issues, I am taking a chance this almost all aluminum box will look like new a long time. Only time will tell if I pissed away my money or not. Check back with me in 2033.

Do what makes YOU feel good. Most of all, enjoy the ride. They are a complete blast.

Rustproof it. Sure some people are fine without it, but on a $50-70k vehicle what's another thousand to ensure its protected. Like some above, I did NH Oil's undercoating with fluid film on the moving parts. It's just good piece of mind that if I take care of the rest of the Bronco, I won't lose my hard work to the frame going out on me early.

I find this to be similar to the PPF or windshield protection (both of which I also have). Some people don't think they need it, some people don't care about chips or scratches, but some do. Based on what you have written above, I don't see a reason to not get it with your prior positive experienced and heightened sense of care and maintenance for your vehicles.

Like Warhorn said, do some kind of coating. I think the NH Oil is one of the best. Have used Fluid Film but it swells rubber regardless of what they say. Zeibart, not sure about what they use today, but never cared for it or any kind of rustproofing that gets hard, dries out, and cracks causing more harm than good. No way I'd let anyone drill holes.

Not sure what part of PGH you are from but here there is a NH applicator just north of rt 228 on rt 8. There is another guy that has his own type of stuff very similar just north of the Clearview Mall. He is very particular and takes everything apart vs drilling. Had wife's Tacoma done there.

The brine they use here really plays havoc on the underbody. I think the aluminum panels will hold up great untreated per what I have seen but the frame and the rest of the stuff under there will corrode if not treated. Guess it depends on how long you plan to keep the Bronco.

Saw a red 2 dr Heritage on the road in the crappy weather today. There is a guy on here from Butler with one same as yours so maybe was him?

It's as good as the person applying the treatment. Ziebart used to be the Gold standard, you don't hear much about them anymore as rust resistance has gotten so much better from the factory for most brands. If it's properly applied, no harm and it will give you peace of mind. But if poorly applied it can create small pickets that trap moisture and exacerbate rust issues. Talk with the local shop about their experience, training and warranty before you shell out $700 bucks.
