My first car was a 1969 Renault R10 that I called the Bucket. I bought it from my father for $150.It'll be The Bronco.
The only vehicle I've ever owned which had a name outside of it's actual brand or model was a 1984 Renault 5 which I kind of lovingly and ironically called the Silver Hornet. I bought that pos for 100 pounds whilst in medical school south of London. There was no bill of sale, no registration, and I didn't have a license. The paint was metallic silver with a sporty brown (seriously) racing stripe. The interior was velvety mustard fabric which was actively decomposing. Clumps of yellow foam often materialized through the threadbare fabric. There was no radio, no a/c, no heat, and no e-brake. I could only shift into 2nd and 4th. 1st, 3rd, and reverse were just absent. We pushed her out of parking spots. Top speed was about 60 and it was thoroughly terrifying on those 12 inch rims.
Despite never changing any fluids or adding anything other than gasoline, the Silver Hornet was a solid chariot to and from the grocery store and down to the pubs. One day close to the end of my time at that hospital, she just stopped running as I pulled into a parking lot. After trying to revive her for a bit, a friend and I pushed her into a parking spot, said a few words, and took a bus home.
[raises a glass]
To the Silver Hornet.

The cooling system wasn't designed for Florida. It actually had a glass jar as a reclaiming tank. I shattered 2 of them before we just duct taped an empty anti- freeze bottle in its place.
I ended up trading it away for a stereo.
