Went to dinner the other night, next day discovered I had a small dent/nasty scratch on my hood. You'd think I would have seen heard/seen it, but nope. Anyway, it's super obvious and has me thoroughly annoyed. I'm considering just covering it with one of the deflectors, but also considering getting it repaired.

Looking for ballpark estimates from those that may have dealt with this before.

Rough estimate 500-800. I can’t remember paint time on the hoods.
You won’t have to worry about rust since the hood is aluminum.

What’s your comprehensive deductible?

Thinking it could be more than $800? Especially if the body shop has to paint the fenders for it to blend. That’s going to be the issue, most shops want to blend in.

Thanks for the estimate. Not sure what my deductible is, gotta call my agent.

My gut says just get the deflector since this probably won't be the last time.

Sorry that sucks. Maybe a good time for dash cam. I just installed one from Ford and it has parking impact sensor.

Good grief, when the heck hit it? Looks like threads from a bolt of some kind. Was there a truck parked in front of you at dinner with scaffolding or other construction type stuff?

Something I never gave much thought to before with other vehicles, no longer pull through when parking. Too easy for someone to park behind and bump the rear spare tire which would wreck the gate. Try to be as proactive as possible.

Yeah , no clue. Those gouges do seem to be evenly spaced, so probably not a rock. I generally avoid tight parking spots. I don't recall if there was a vehicle parked in front of me, I'm thinking there wasn't, but who knows who came and went while we were inside.

They might want to put a hood on it, hoods are hard to repair because they are so big and flat, and aluminum complicates it even more.

Looks like a bolt hit it. My guess, $750-$1000. Being it's a tri-coat paint it could easily go higher.

Obviously the most cost effective option would be the throw a deflector over top of it and never look back.

With that said, it all depends on how much that would bother you after the fact.

Looking forward to hearing why you decide. 👍🏼

Called insurance yesterday and got the runaround. Agent refers to claims, claims refers to customer service, back to claims, etc . Bottom line, they can't tell me what my deductible will be until I file a claim. But assuming they classify under comprehensive, my deductible will be $100. Caliber Collision is their preferred repair shop. I think I'm going to try and stop by one of the shops and see if they are willing to take a look. I figured the tricoat was going to be a problem.
