I just picked up my FE last week and have logged 250 miles. I’ve noticed something that feels slightly off about the steering feel.

At first I thought what I was feeling may be an alignment issue as I thought I felt it pulling slightly to the left or generally wandering a bit when trying to hold center.

After spending some time today studying the feel, it seems like it’s a bit harder to steer to the right from center, and also takes more force to hold a given steering angle towards the right, compared to steering to the left from center. The force difference isn’t huge - maybe 5-10% harder, but it’s enough that it feels like a minor annoyance. Aside from feeling inconsistent when turning left vs right, I think this is contributing to the sense of wandering when holding center, as minor back and forth wheel adjustments while holding center feel a little different between left and right.

There’s also a chance I could be losing my mind and there is no issue , or that things just need to break in. I’m about to head out on a long trip from the Bay Area to Joshua Tree, so I’m just hoping there isn’t a larger issue brewing here.

Let me know what you thing or if there’s anything I should check. Thanks!

I'd first check tire pressure when cold

At that point could be a lot of things.
Suspension
One tire/wheel being a little off but still in spec
Wheel bearings
Alignment

I'd report it to dealer and let them look at it

is it the lane keeping assist?

If you're driving and start to wander left or right, you'll feel it kinda 'pull' you back into the middle.

I'd Also check power steering fluid, and since so much is electronic anymore, check battery cables tightness

Check owner manual for troubleshooting.
Check the things you can, otherwise send to mechanic

was going to suggest turning this off and see if there's a difference

My FE kinda has the same feelings, like my 69 does. I am just going with the big tires and short wheelbase. I drove 1800 miles straight and had zero abnormal tire wear so I am not worried.

My FE has the same feeling, but I think it is due to having lane keep assist on.
