Had a great time today on Indian Truck Trail and Main Divide Road. Both in the Santiago Peak / Saddleback mountain area. I went with my friend and followed his jeep. We started off the 15, and ended going out Ortega Highway.
I loved seeing all the green and the blooming flowers. Surely due to our record rainy winter/spring and relatively mild summer.
This was an easy trail. I would rate it a 2 or maybe a 3 in a few areas. It is narrow, and I did get some pin striping with one pretty deep scratch. These are mostly shelf roads, so fear of heights is a real thing, just pay attention to the road and you will be ok. I was in 4 high the entire time, but I bet I would have been ok mostly in 2wd.
We didn’t turn to the north on Main Divide to go up to the antenna towers and Doppler radar sites, but it looked all fogged in and possibly raining up on the peak.
I will certainly do this trail again.
