If they are having fun with it, who cares?Edited: some of the comments were getting too off topic. Basically, just curious of thoughts on the whole Duck thing?
If i had a track car, I'd totally do the outline decals.Whoa on the hostility. It’s all in fun bro. Nobody cares one way or another. Jeeps have been around longer and have ‘their’ thing. Nothing to do with masculinity or any of that. Was just curious on what people think. I made the post and none of that crossed my mind. Just a simple thought like when you go to race tracks in performance cars. Every track I drove GT500 on you would get a track outline decal to put on rear 1/4 window. For the sole purpose to be discussion starters.
Agree. It’s was all in good fun. Love the bottle opener idea. I’m making the duck decals for little tongue in cheek fun. As I was an SRT Motorsports executive at Chrysler/FCA for almost 20 years and owned Jeep Rubicons, Vipers, and SRT was my company car for over a decade once I reached the level to get one.If i had a track car, I'd totally do the outline decals.
I've got a stack of TredCred stickers for everywhere I've taken my Bronco, but I haven't found a good way to display them yet.
If I had a hard top, I'd probably have the back side windows full of them, but they feel like they wouldn't last long on the vinyl soft top windows.
I might just make some kind of display board to put in the window opening behind a molle panel or something like that.
I think if the Bronco people had something develop organically like the ducks, it wouldn't be a big deal. I personally think the ducks look dumb & are normally a good way to ID a mall crawler, but knowing the story behind it softens the stance a little.
I don't think trying to just copy or force a Bronco version is the route.
And clearly, people are annoyed when stuff is left on their rig while they're not around.
I don't think a rubber duck is going to hurt anything, but the principle of "don't touch my rig" stands.
I've considered making some stainless Bronco logo bottle openers or something to give out.
We've got a plasma table & lots of scrap pcs of stainless steel lol.
Might be a cool thing to do at shows/events.
It’s all in good fun. I just love the bone stock base models with 100 ducks. The POTUS one is awesome and hilarious. I’d put one of those on my dash. lolMy son thinks the ducks are hilarious. Some of them are pretty funny. I got him a President Trump one with the hair and its his favorite. Hes 8 so be nice.
As far as it being a thing i think its fine, personally i dont care what other people do with their ride. but i will mock, and i expect to be mocked, if i do something stupid. i got the little hula girl for my bronco, thats about as much as i would do.
I agree i dont want anyone touching my truck but i certainly wouldnt do violence on someone for putting a rubber ducky on my truck. Im naturally distrusting of strangers so i would say thank you and toss it out. I dont want something your booger hooks were manhandling. As far as approaching me when im with my wife and kids, i automatically am defensive and , as per my wife, do not look approachable. Oh well, it is what it is.
And for whoever wrote about the my little pony, if i found that on my truck i would be in stitches thats awesome lol
it was a post in good fun. Like I mentioned in a post before in the this thread I took early retirement package from Chrysler/FCA. I was global head of motorsports and product placement. Owned more Rubicons than I can count, Vipers, and SRT products. Once I retired I’ve been Ford all the way. F150’s, Raptor, and now a Bronco (I never will sell). The only thing that is funny and worth poking fun at is the bone stock base model Jeeps with 100 ducks. lolIf they are having fun with it, who cares?
I was a long time Jeep owner (since the mid 80's) and while the duck thing would not have been for me if it were going on when I owned Jeep's, let them have at it if they find it fun and goofy..
No need to obsess over what others do or enjoy..
