Took a hard hit this morning. Pretty sure it was a rock or piece of concrete that flew off of a dump truck going the opposite direction. Unfortunately it was dark. As hard as it hit and as loud as it was I think any windshield would have ended up the same way. An inch higher and the wiper would have taken the hit.

Welcome! FWIW I learned this type of claim is covered under comprehensive vs collision thus I have a $0 copay and won't count against my insurance. Something about things beyond your control don't count as collision.

Damn that sucks. Good luck, are the windshields really $1,000?

Closer to $1500 in some markets.

The windshields themselves aren't particularly special, but the front facing camera by the rear view mirror has to be recalibrated or else functions like lane keep assist will stop working correctly.

I joined Monday with a F350 popping a rock up off I65 in Louisville. It is being replaced tomorrow at SafeLite. In Kentucky you get one replacement without deductible a year. Bronco will not see the interstate again.

Welcome to the club. I "joined" it last summer. Was able to get a true factory windshield about three days after it happened. The company that instlled it came to my house to do it and recalibrated everything once done. Cost me about $250 for my deductible.

I didn't get those cool cracks coming out from the impact zone, though.

Welcome, mine was 10 months old with 7K. Luckily it was a very small chip that I had "repaired" by Satellite for $174 which Geico paid for (with my premiums).
