Been lucky so far - but I've taken precautions. I have Dynoflex film on the windshield, and also installed the hood deflector. Plus I have a new-found sense of paranoia when driving behind trucks - I try to avoid at all costs.

Got my first chip Wednesday, piece of asphault from a truck that was a good 50 yards ahead of me, Hit directly in front of my eyes on the drivers side. Luckily after getting home and cleaning the area with rubbing alcahol, most of it cleaned away and I was just left with a vey tiny chip in the outer layer about the size of a pin head. For now Im not going to get it filled, because they said they will need to drill it to fill it, and that runs a risk of spider webbing the glass. So for now I just need to train my eyes not for focus on the chip..

I misread your post only focusing on the last statement where you told everyone to get over it, so yes my bad. Your reply did make me go look at my insurance, there isn’t specific glass coverage offered by USAA (at least not on the website). They do say they will waive your deductible if they can repair vs replace. Curious what is the deductible for a specific windshield add-on? It seems like a windshield that can get a chip this easily wouldn’t repair well.

I bought this kit:

It wasn't anywhere close to $500, and it took about 45 minutes. I have heard getting other films installed at a shop are 500+, though. I wouldn't go that route, either.
